At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

Oh yeah yeah
At last

The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Oh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine...

At Last

Nice curve on the stats. Contrast it with that for the song before, or after.

As pithy as it gets: this one is highly rated because people like it–or that is the inference I draw from the high correlation between rating this song highly and the strength of the drive of the same people to focus their attention on the song when it is being played (or even when they are consciously seeking out that song, from any of a number of available sources, in order to listen to it, for any number of reasons, none of them negative).

What a gift Etta James was to all of us...... I agree ColoradoJohn, she could stop and start your heart at will . May you RIP Etta.

:o)~        Connecticut.
GOOD LORD! Here we hear what they all wanted to be, tried to be, died to be... Here is a song that can both stop and start your heart!
Never tire of this one. A big 10 for me.

I'm sure this is an excellent piece of music, unfortunately I'm not old enough to appreciate it. I grew up with this kind of music, it's what my parents listened to. Then I discovered the antidote: Led Zep, Floyd, Crimson, ELP...  {#Roflol}

Let me correct you, This is an excellent piece of music...

How strange. . . is this more a self conditioning aspect of disregarding what your parents listened to rather than appreciating the music for what it is?

Are you saying that if your parents listened to a piece of music that you can't appreciated it because they did?

Oh dear. . .

Any better? How? A godlike 10.
This is currently the only track credited to a woman that appears on the Radio Paradise Classic Top 60 (excluding tracks that feature female vocalists, such as Clare Torry in Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky").

Feel free to explain yourselves.

If music was all about voice, then songs like this would surely deserve its high rating.  Alas, that is not what music is about.  Never was, never will be.  I gave this a 4.

Rdo:

No offense but that's just about the most asinine comment I've read here on RP.  Come over here for a second and let me....

It's 10 PM somewhere.
The listener ratings say it all.  Pretty much unanimous.

gee a 4, not bad for someone who is obviously both tone deaf, and soul-less{#Clap}....judging from your usual noise......the only way this could be better? a duet with Ray Charles..........
{#Sunny}10s are not easy in my world, this be the kind......{#Notworthy}
Easiest 10 Ever.
Just had a moment....thank you....
Saw Etta at Newport Jazz Festival years back.We cruised there on the QE2. What a talent she was. Sadly they have both sailed into the sunset.
Splendor incarnate.
That stopped everything.  Beautiful.
