Summertime, and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin'
So hush little baby, Don't you cry

One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing
And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But 'til that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you
With Daddy and Mammy standin' by

Nope. Not feeling this one at all. The strings are scary.  But thanks for offering a chance to hears this, Bill.  Raised my monthly donation too. Your station is an oasis in an ever encroaching music desert. Thanks.
Excellent, thanks for playing this.  I hadn't heard it yet.

I'm a huge fan of the tune "Summertime" and many of the various versions folks have put out over the years.  I probably skip this track 1/2 of the times I hear it, although today I gave it full listen and will keep it rated at (the group average) 6.  This one might be better suited to my home stereo vs. my workplace headphones or the kilowatt system in my truck.  Long Live RP!!

The best is by Brainbox, the best so far.
From Amsterdam, starring guitarist Jan Akkerman again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainbox

when the strings kicked in the horror began
My first time hearing this version. I'm not surprised that it's getting a mixed reaction. I am a bit surprised though that the naysayers are so much more vocal than the likers! Personally, I give it a  7👍
Why?
Unnecessary cover.  {#Stupid}
This cut has no right to live.  Send it to the cornfield, Bill.
Wow. Had to turn this one off.
There are many good versions of this song (Doc Watson, Sidney Bechet, and even Sublime), but this isn't one of them.
Meh.
Why are there so many damn versions of this song?

Oh, he's not a bad man. I quite like much of what Bill plays from Harry. But this an awful mishmash where all three genres in this mix suffer.

There is nothing to excuse in a man who would do what he has to this song.

Bravo! What a great rendition of this classic song.
