A quahog is a clam most common to the Eastern Seaboard. It's a Native American word (Narraganset, I believe).

Yeah, you should've seen the confusion the first time after moving to Texas when my fam goes to get some delicious frozen treats and asked for them by that very name. Blank stares abounded.
