I have the same problem as offroadbiker below since I updated to the latest RP App version (3.23.2.gp - I don't know which version I had just before that update because I hadn't updated the App for a while). There's a white/grayish X cross associated to the logo in the task bar, but it doesn't seem responding.

Also, since I updated I have the problem that the App stops playing when I click 'PSD' —> play something... 'i like' (the other PSD functions still work fine).

Any idea about the origin of those issues and if there is a way to solve them? I am on Android 4.4.4.

Not sure if this was posted before, If it is I apologize.
The song played on the android seems to be ahead of the playlist on the website. Not really a problem but sometimes I want to comment / rate a song that is just playing. In that case I have to wait until the song passes in the web playlist.

Is there something I can do about this?

Yes. If you're playing a cache block, tap PSD. One of the options is "return to web stream".

I've searched the forum for some help with issue and haven't been successful. Sorry if I missed it.

I have a cache loaded on my phone and now the Android app will only play from the cache. I use the cache when travelling but would like to listen to the live stream at home. I see I can delete the cache, but I'd rather not do that till I get tired of it. Is there a way I can listen live with my phone while keeping the cache for when I travel?

When I close the app, it does not stop. The RP logo remains on the task bar at the top of my screen. The only way to make it go away is to go into Settings -> Apps and FORCE STOP the RP app.

I've had this problem with the RP app on two Android phones. Is there a setting that I'm missing? I've never had a problem with an app not properly shutting down when I close it.

Hi Bill,
Loving flac on android! The leap in sound quality is superb. Odd thing though, the app seens to be refusing to show artist and track info like it used to. Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. No big deal cos' the fab tunes are keeping me distracted in the meantime. Goodness, your taste in music is exemplary!

No limits. By default, cache blocks will only download via WiFi. Perhaps there was a network issue?

I'm having trouble downloading cache block on an Android phone. Nothing happens when I click 'add blocks' and then download. Are these server issues? To add: I do have two blocks downloaded already; is there a limit? On the fourth attempt, it finally started the download. Thanks,

After installing and reinstalling and being able to log in, the same problem every time. Three songs (by Greg Kihn, the Santana Brothers, and Mojave) keep playing over and over again after reinstallation.  Have wiped every cache clean that I can find.  Have changed location for cache in phone. The app says that it is playing LIve Stream, but the same songs keep coming up, over and over.

Love the app and am an annual supporter for several years. Today, I can't seem to download any cache blocks without getting the error "could not retrieve offline list" Bill can you kick the server again?

just want to let you know how much we enjoy the Android app! Installed it a couple of days ago on our Minix U9-H which is connected to our TV set.
The accompanying slideshows are absolutely stunning and most entertaining ;-)
Having said that, we were wondering how it's done... {#Curtain} How does the connection between artist name/song title and slideshow pictures work?
Is that a secret you gals/guys would be willing to share?

Tap PSD, then select 'sync to live stream'.

I know, not as intuitive as it could be. It's hard working with the limited screen real estate...

This isn't as much a reply as it is a hijack to say how much I enjoy the new flac option. With my LG V10 plugged into the music machinery here, the difference was profound. Thank you Bill and whoever else worked on this. RP just took a big leap ahead.

If you're not a premium member, get down off your camel and cough up some shekels to support this effort.

Seriously guys, you can't write an app that downloads this much data over mobile connection. There has to be some thorough safeguard for that.

I was lucky, since it was beginning of the month, so I'll have save now for the rest of the month, but we have huge overcharges on data tariffs here in Europe, this would have seriously hurt.

The reason seems to be that I played around with the cache a few weeks back. Since it would not download properly, I experimentally set it to "download 12h of music". When I started the app today while on the mobile network, it downloaded 12 hours or 600 megs of RP.

I love RP, so I hope you get this fixed. I'd really like to continue listening.
 
Sorry. As with any app that's capable of large data transfers, you need to be careful when changing settings to allow the use of cell data.

I'd suggest leaving the live stream options set to a minimal cache (< 30 min), and keep the cell bitrate low. Then grab a couple of larger cache blocks (without enabling the 'use cell data' option) for use when you're offline for extended periods.

As for preventing the app from doing large cache downloads via cell data, sometimes that's exactly what some users (I'm one) want to do. I generally have several unused gigs of cell data each month, so I'll sometimes load large cache blocks via cell. Perhaps we could add an additional warning message in those circumstances. I use an app (Xfinity StreamTV) that does that.

Just fixed a server issue. Both the Android & iOS apps were failing when set to the lowest bitrate. Very sorry about that. Should be OK now.
