Very cool.  The design is terrific.

I love the fact that the brother-inventors are ethnic Chinese from Richmond.  The background story is wonderful

This is such a great idea, I never expect to have one.  Why?  Because people will hoard them.

Too bad about Britain leaving the EU.  If it was not for the labour mobility provisions, I would guess that Britain would still be there.

It is in neither  Mexico's or Canada's interest to skirt the USA for trade but that sentiment is likely alive and well in both Mexico and Canada.  Blow back from President Trump frothing at the mouth.
Memo to Trump and his supporters:

1.  Playing hard ball and coming across like a self-serving ass-hole works in some business settings.   Doing this with entire countries is bound to create a destructive counter reaction.

2.   Admitting that your workers — American workers — are culturally inferior, i.e., far less productive than German workers and arguing that American workers require special protection as a result is a) not entirely accurate, many Americans are highly productive, and b) makes you look weak and disoriented.

Mind you some of them could have simply been heading "back to the land" — a popular theme in the counter-culture days.

BTW, is Canada having a 150th anniversary celebration?  Oh. Yawn.

I knew a Canadian who called those plaid flannel shirts, "Quebec tuxedos". Especially, the Chinese ones that cost like $4.50 from Canadian Tire. Not to be confused with the double denim Canadian tuxedo.

Some of us like to expression our devotion to country by being less than outwardly patriotic, flag waving, chest-thumping, etc.

That said, the fact that Canada is still one nation state after the Centennial is not amazing but a testament to the flexibility of the pan-Canadian asymmetric federal state, and a testament to the willingness of participants to compromise.

Patriotism, like tradition, is best when it is harmless.

Like the Swedes love to fly their (very pretty) flag. But in a unifying way; it isn't a xenophobic political statement.

The Centennial had a lot of encouragement for government at all levels and individuals to have a centennial project. Celebration or social benefit. Remember the ad of the guy diving into a pool of maple syrup? I think every country should bring something like that back.
