Johnny take a walk with your sister the moon
Let her pale light in to fill up your room
You've been living underground
Eating from a can
You've been running away
From what you don't understand...
Love

She's slippy
You're sliding down
She'll be there when you hit the ground

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways

Johnny take a dive with your sister in the rain
Let her talk about the things you can't explain
To touch is to heal
To hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky
Better learn how to kneel

(on your knees boy)

She's the wave
She turns the tide
She sees the man inside the child

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Lift my days, light up my nights

One day you will look...back
And you'll see...where
You were held...how
By this love...while
You could stand...there
You could move on this moment
Follow this feeling

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright (Love, love)
She moves in mysterious ways (Oh no, oh no)
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright (Move you, spirit, move, making love)
Spirit moves in mysterious ways (Yeah, move, yeah, move, make love)
It's alright, it's alright, alright (You move with it, she moves with it)
Lift my days, light up my nights, love

My #1 Album of the Ninties
So many better ones to play. This is weak. Thank you.
An Irish friend told me this one: what's the difference between Bono and God? Answer: God doesn't wander around Dublin thinking he's Bono.

Nope - another hearing and another underwhelming feeling. Average at best this band and GROSSLY overrated.

Thank you.

Remember when this broke upon the world like a crashing wave? It still hits me like a tsunami! Wickedly sinister bass, mad guitar with all kinds of things going on, going from L to R and fuzzing up the synapses; the powerful drumming, amazing vocals; it feels so good

Indeed, this is great and it never gets old. I must crank the volume whenever anything from this album comes up. They never came close to this level in any of their later albums.

So I'm gonna state the obvious just in case folks haven't noticed it:
This is a religious song, and Bono is simply singing about God while using the example of a woman. It has nothing to do with how a woman moves.

God works in mysterious ways. If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel. Etc.

From that perspective, it's a really well-written song. I'm not a big U2 fan, except for Unforgettable Fire, but I gotta respect the craft here.

You may find this interpretation obvious.  I find it to be more than a bit of a stretch.  Why would they feel the need to disguise "God works in mysterious ways" as "She moves in mysterious ways"?

You've taken the "better learn how to kneel" line out of its context.

I've noticed the similarity to the old saw, but that hardly makes it a song about the supernatural.

Oh man, at one time these guys used to make good music, really good music.

I agree, at one time, one time only, even then they had a writer, a producer and an orchestra.

HEADLINE NEWS FLASH:  BONO FALLS ON HIS ARSE
The majority of us folks who recognize that this is one of the all time greatest bands  are silent on these comment pages.

But this song is a 7.4

Outstanding - I went through a Not Like the Album So Much phase during the mid-90's, even though I saw them in Charlotte on the 2nd date of the Achtung tour. But the revisiting just kills it. No be bagging on those who hate the Bono and the U2 - the bigger your stage, the more the back bleachers boo. You don't have to like them at all, but if you don't - well, you're an idiot. Ha! No - just an elitist. If they'd sold 20 million less albums you'd probably love them - some people love to take a position just because it's contrary to what "everyone else thinks". A breathtaking, world-changing band. My two cents.
