We made love until we cried and cried ourselves to laughter
Laughed until we realise our hearts were struck were fear
How in just a moments time could one see for ever after
I gently lie beside of you and dream away my tears

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

Funny things you learn from your mama, like the way to throw your head back when your

Swallowing pills
Funny things you learn from your papa, like when you're talking you just can't keep your

Hands still

But that was now and this is then
It never lasts for long
How I miss the good old days; but I'm so glad they're gone

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

I'd like to spend the time that you would like to spend with me
So that you could help me out with my dependancy
'Cause I'm hoplessly addicted, addicted to your sorrow
Makes me never wanna work, beg or borrow

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

Imagine how high this song would be rated if Salma Hayek had danced in a bikini to it like the last song that undeservedly got a much higher rating.

Geez found this in my record collection...
Found myself dancin' to this. bumping 7 -> 8.
Such a fun song.
Loving this on a Friday morning! {#Bananajam}{#Drummer}{#Guitarist}
Better than most I've heard from him.  Must...keep...mind...open.
Saw him and his group last summer, a very fine fine show! Outdoors, Central Oregon, and a nice night! {#Bananajam}
WICKED   : )
I like.  If only because Ben sounds like he woke up for this one.
Ben Harper can still go suck an egg.
How about a duet with bonnie raitt
Sardonic bubblegum Ben Harper. Me like.
Sweet bass groove.
this album art reminds me of Alex Cox's take on Reagan era foreign policy:

Walker is a 1987 American-Mexican Acid Western film directed by Alex Cox and starring Ed HarrisRichard MasurRene AuberjonoisPeter BoyleSy RichardsonXander BerkeleyAlfonso ArauMarlee Matlin and Miguel Sandoval. The film is based on the life story of William Walker, the American filibuster who invaded Mexico in the 1850s and made himself President of Nicaragua shortly thereafter. It was written by Rudy Wurlitzer and scored by Joe Strummer, who also plays a small role as a member of Walker's army.

The film is intentionally full of anachronisms such as helicoptersZippo lighters, automatic rifles and a car passing a horse carriage. It was filmed in Nicaragua during the Contra War.

Cox borrowed from an amazing Brando film
Burn! (Italian: Queimada) is a 1969 Italian drama film directed by Gillo Pontecorvo and starring Marlon Brando, Evaristo Márquez and Renato Salvatori.     (it's about Sugar)

I used to play this song in a band about double the speed. It was sooo much fun!
Great to hear the original again {#Drummer}

I agree about the retro feel, but I disagree about the song. I like it.
I really love Ben Harper, but this is pretty far from his best song.  I always skip it when it comes up on my player...
this's got that grand ol' Friday I'm in Love feel.. steamy!
...I'm addicted to your sorrow...

{#Yes}
Where did you get that hat, where did you get that hat...?
Guess Ben and Laura are really quits, now.  He plays a mean Weissenborn, in any event..

LOL- YES. I guess it was! Doesn't seem that long ago subjectively, but I suppose it was.

I was going to post now, after hearing this for the second time, that the beginning reminded me of ZZ Top.
Billy Jack?!?!  Now that was a while ago ...
Never heard this before somehow, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the album cover! Reminds me of Billy Jack for some reason ....
Here in the low lands this reminds me quite a lot of Herman Brood, although I can't remember the specific song title right now. It's not a cover, is it?
This is much smoother though, i.e. rather tame in comparison.
This was after Joanna and before Laura .. some interesting in-between words in this song.
I can dance to this. {#Dancingbanana}
Ben Harper never fails to amuse the musical me, and yes, all the classic rock tunes mentioned below show up here...tribute? Ben having fun? Kind of a silly rock song, but such fun!
I had not heard this before....  and from the date of the album... Im behind in my Ben Harper listening.  Time to catch up. {#Surprised}
For some reason I want to hear Kiss doing a great cover of this.
Gene Simmonds would rip with this stuff.

First 3 listens, ok... had enough.

I was thinking more like 38 Special. As whole, the song doesn't do much for me, but I do like the guitar.

...Takin' care of business...
This always reminds me of Larry Underwood's "Baby can you dig your man." Can't say why, especially since i've never actually heard the song...

I agree. I just don't "get" Ben Harper, but I'll get my chance as he is an RP staple. plutodazed wrote:

that's funny considering Harper sings with more soul and passion than most artists I know, ever seen him live???
