With an arrow through the middle
Of a name that looks like Joe
And a young girl's looking
At her makeup in the mirror
Puts a little gold ring on her toe
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
There's a sharp dressed man
Playing something on a fiddle
In the backyard right next door
And everybody's mother
Is cooking something in the kitchen
Got dishes stacked ceiling to floor
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
A red rooster crows
A little Mexican tune
On the chain link fence by the gate
Somebody's daddy's out there
Honkin' on the horn
Hurry up, we're gonna make him late
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
If you're long down that highway
No matter where you are
You're never really far
Good morning Aztlán
There's a big fat heart
With an arrow through the middle
Of this place that I call home
And when I get lost
And don't even got a nickel
There's a piece of dirt I call my own
I gotta say one, two, three more things before I go on
You can't run and try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
You can't run to try to hide away
Here it comes, here comes another day
Where you are, never really far away
Good morning Aztlán
Whew, this one rocks! Can't sit still...
I Agree! Thanx RP!
Damn. Every single time I hear this it's a reach for "volume knob" on the listening tool. That's just a great rocking jam! Thanks RP
yes! 10!! can't sit still during this one!
... and less REM, please.

No, no -- the Tom Petty can stay. Don't ever even think about taking away my Tom Petty.
One genre associated with Los Lobos is cowpunk. Wow. That's fun.
Cowpunk worries Tim.
He is literally...
MORE LOS LOBOS, less Talking Heads and Tom Petty!
What he said, but with more REM , Talking Heads and Tom Petty.

Always wondered why he was saying good morning to a metaphorical Lion. TIL
Ha.Ha. Very. Funny.
Aztlán (from Nahuatl languages: Astlan, Nahuatl pronunciation: [ˈast͡ɬãːn̥] (listen)) is the ancestral home of the Aztec peoples. Astekah is the Nahuatl word for "people from Aztlan". Aztlan is mentioned in several ethnohistorical sources dating from the colonial period, and while they each cite varying lists of the different tribal groups who participated in the migration from Aztlan to central Mexico, the Mexica who went on to found Mexico-Tenochtitlan are mentioned in all of the accounts.
There are layers to their music that you really don't find in many other bands. This song is a 10.
you should see them live
Love the riff on this! Rock on LL and RP.
and LLRP!!

Tons of fun!!!!
This song always peps me up. Thanks, Bill & Rebecca!
I agree!
Peyote or mushrooms?
Neither; it’s always there if you let it…
I’ve seen Aztlan!
Peyote or mushrooms?
Such a fun song! Always turn this up!
Yup, same here, and it seems to come up fairly often on my playlist, too!
yeah , this is Godlike!
**EDIT** yup...today is the day I go 8→9 on this splendid Los Lobos tune. My bump might have something to do with seeing Al, one of the old (a relative term for sure) guys that works where I work who wears ONLY band t-shirts walking by a bit ago with a Los Lobos shirt. Serendipity or simple coincidence? Long Live RP!!
You mean Weird-Al?

the possible location of Aztlan and tend to place it either in
northwestern Mexico or the southwest US, although there are doubts about
whether the place is purely mythical or represents a historical
reality.[citation needed]

Pull up the lyrics to the song.
Thank you for what you do. Glad we can support your efforts. Wish everyone did...
This track starts off sounding like "The Boys of Summer" and then just kicks ass and leaves that thought behind completely. I'm at an 8 on this rocking groovy track. Long Live RP!!

But this song....oh boy! Love it!
Couldn't have said it better!
But this song....oh boy! Love it!
They do tour. I saw them in 2016, they toured in 2017, guess what, they're on tour right now. You just seem better at complaining and making the same dumb posts over and over about Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire than you do about actually getting out and seeing live music.
bumpity-bump-bump
Aslan & Kaplan
100 shows a year for decades... I just saw them on Saturday. Didn't do anything from this album, tho!
This wasn't in their line-up when they were here but we (the audience) "coaxed" them into doing it as encore! :-)

Great band. After seeing them 3 times live, I ll never miss a show. I m seeing them in Annapolis in Feb. 2016
This song is a rocker and better when it's live...but these guys don't tour much. Wah!

blah this is their best song :-)

In the mix fur sure.
Definitely top 10. Love these guys.
In the mix fur sure.
Good Morning, Aslan!
And that's just my two cents' worth.
Not sure about that, but I love their music because I think it's great! (Not alone in this, judging from the ratings.)
Yea I gotta say this is a pretty strange comment. There is only one song you actively dislike and this is it?!
40 hours a week on RP — at, what, 12-15 songs an hour — and this is the ONLY song you dislike? Damn, quite baffling how you can be so indulgent or judicious on ~400 pieces of music (accounting for repeats) and it's just this one that elicts a 'yuck.' This is hyperbolic, or you have an unusually high tolerance for middle-of-the-roadness or good-but-not-exceptional that the fine rip rockin' Good Morning Aztlan cannot escape.
9 —> 10 !! Mebbe even 11...
Neil
You should be lucky enough to see them do this live. You have no choice but to get up and dance.
amen brother!

Good Morning, Aslan!
Kinda wish I hadn't seen this. LR used to be so hot. But then again, so was I.
