if a quart of milk were still a dollar
or even if a quart of milk were still a quart
And the hours, well, I don't mind
how they creep on by like an old love of mine
it's the years that simply disappear that are doing me in
Guess I married too young,
yeah, nineteen was just too young,
but sometimes you meet someone
and your guts just burn
It's not that I don't love him anymore
it's just that when I hear him
coming through that front door
my heart doesn't race like it did once before
But I've got a horse out in the country
I get to see him every second Sunday
He comes when I call him,
yeah, he knows his name
One day I'll saddle up
and the two of us will ride away
This weather I could almost stand
if the sun would shine a little brighter
or even if the sun would shine at all
But lately it just seems to me
that this life has lost its mystery
and these cold fall mornings seem to bite
just a little bit harder
And all my friends have settled down
become their mothers and their fathers
without a sound
Except for Cathy,
she bought a one-way subway ticket
and left us all behind
But I've got a horse out in the country
I get to see him every second Sunday
He comes when I call him,
yeah, he knows his name
One day I'll saddle up
and the two of us will ride away
This town wouldn't be so bad
if a girl could trust her instincts
or even if a girl could trust a boy
The Cowboy Junkies is a band you often hear in RP and almost never anywhere else...
Bless your souls Bill and Becca I know why I donate

Could not agree more, here voice is pure blandness.
Please make it stop...........
Saturday morning hangover?
Please make it stop...........
This is sort of a tough one. I have this cd, and I enjoy the cut, but I also agree with the comment on them being stuck in a mold. If one hears the CJs too frequently, it just all rolls into one long 'when will this ever end, how could I possibly have ever liked this?'
perfect imagery thanks
Interesting... considering they are a Canadian prairie band. LOL!
I thought they grew up in Montreal and later moved to Toronto. Not prairie towns :) Nor rural southern either, as was previously suggested. Then again, the world is pretty homogeneous these days.
Flying to montreal 20 years ago and the pilot says "we have just entered Canada - set your clocks back 10 years" HA
This song is good for the ears...
You are a bot!

...and soporific.
I concur...

Count me as a fan. This song was just followed up by a Beatles song. I dunno if that reflects Radio Paradise management's view of things.... Could though.
Y'all just don't understand because you didn't grow up out in the country. I'm a native of the rural Southern US, and I can match a real person I've known with almost every protagonist in a CJ song.

God, isn't that the truth.

What does the pilot say when you enter Trumpland?
