Ooo oooohhhh
Come on and dance, come on and dance
Let's make some romance
You know the night is fallin'
And the music's callin'
And we've got to get down to Swingtown
We've been workin' so hard
We've been workin' so hard
Come on baby
Come on baby let's dance
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
Ooo oooohhhh
Ooo oooohhhh
Come on and dance, come on and dance
We may not get another chance
You know the night is fallin'
And the music's callin'
And we've got to get down to Swingtown
What on earth is a swingtown?
The lyrics make it seem to be the town hot spot/bar.
I have to say Steve Miller's music is the definitive portrait of good time rock and roll from that era. It's the soundtrack for packing up camping supplies, picking up a six pack of beer, and heading out to the mountains for fun in 1976 or so.
Still is. Saw him 3 weeks ago - still awesome good time stuff
Yikes...according to the Urban Dictionary....yeah....still, SMB is one of my favorite "too popular for most RP listeners" acts, so the 9 rating stays. Long Live RP!!

Actually he does play quite a bit of older obscure SMB
Smackdaddy I have to remind myself to listen to more RO channels
Clearly the rest of the population did not.
Damn bill can’t you play a Steve Miller song that has not been played to death

What? I can't hear you while I have this tune CRANKED....Long Live RP and SMB!!
Good catch. It was Book of Dreams which had some great songs like The Stake, Winter Time, Wish Upon a Star... and their cover of Jet Airliner which back then I thought was original.
just fantastic. the best of the 70s

Thankfully, the FLAC FILES still FLY even if you've tuned out. And since this came out the same year I did (of the womb, not the closet, lol) I didn't have to endure it like you probably did. And my actively avoiding listening to FM radio means that I don't care how many times KZOK (or whatever the hell their call sign is now) - this to me is some of the most fun ROCKnBLUES there is and I crank it up to 11.
I've rated this one a 9 to counteract your apparent 1 rating.
And on top of that, Steve Miller is in the RocknRoll HOF!! LOL!!!
Long Live RP!!
i'm in full agreement...last great SMB album was Recall the Beginning...A Journey from Eden
Well, it must have worked for him, as people remember the hits.
He just toured and came though Chi. almost 40 YEARS after this album came out and played to a big crowd at Ravinia on the No. Shore at age 71 ...
"People remembering the hits" doesn't make the music any good.

Here's the set list I pulled off a web-site:
