World was on fire and no one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
I'd never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I'd never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No, I don't wanna fall in love
(This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I don't wanna fall in love
(This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you
With you
(This world is only gonna break your heart)

What a wicked game to play, to make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say, you never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do, to make me dream of you

And I don't wanna fall in love
(This world is only gonna break your heart)
No, I don't wanna fall in love
(This world is only gonna break your heart)
With you

Wish they could get "The Chris Isaak Show" released. I remember it was great. Mona the mermaid.

That’s about right, IMO

Is it possible for a song to bring back too many memories??
Very good ones and so very sad ones?
My psyche get messed up every time I hear it.
I have heard this a LOT!  But, I can never hear too much of it!  Thanx RP!  PS: May Jimmy Wilsey Rest in Peace!
Jimmy Wilsey's guitar. . .oh my.  The tone, the soft attack, the perfect bending and bar work.  Well done, man.  RIP

I rarely use the 10 but this one warrants it.

I looked it up. that is "supermodel" Helena Christensen on a newly-formed black sand beach in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The beach was covered in lava not longer after the shoot. She is topless in most of the video.
Anyone else remember the other video for this song, from Wild At Heart? I always thought it fit the sense of longing and desperation in this song so much better.

Can't bear Southern Comfort
Oh Leslie ….
As I say of Mr. Issak, he's got the blues because he's unloved, or he's loved too much, or he loved and got hurt, or he loved and regretted it, or he couldn't find any baby to love, or some combo of the above.  Nice voice, but one basic soul to report in his songs.  No thanks.  he's a psd for me.
wow... he can really float a note!
Ah hell +1 to the top. That voice....

There's a new book out about James Calvin Wilsey, Chris Isaak's original guitarist who came up with the Wicked Game riff that made the band famous:  https://hozacrecords.com/pre-o...

RIP James Calvin Wilsey.

Watch the video.  That might do it.
I think, today, that this is probably my favourite song of all time.  So evocative of a time in my life long lost.

I know, I'm already pregnant, and I'm not even a woman...
Ageless
Great Song forever :-)
The first time I heard this was when he opened a show for Suzanne Vega, before he started getting radio play. He was quite impressive! One of the sexiest dreamiest voices ever.
This is one of my top ranked songs. Chris Isaak owns it. No question. However................

RP introduced me to London Grammar, the comments section told me they did a cover, and Hannah NAILS the feeling of the song while making it her own.  These are the covers I love.
Three beginner chords (B minor, A, E), three instruments (guitar, bass and drums) and you have a rock classic. It doesn’t need to be complicated.

I liked it more after seeing Wild at Heart...but saw Chris Isaak at a show with my good friend (BIG fan) for her birthday - he came walking down the aisle in that big shiny coat and took her for a walk. I will love this moment forever! He and Lyle Lovett - very impressive shows and seem like really decent individuals
Easy, peasy, 10.
Absolutely love this song, but as hard as I try I can only hear Chris sing "And I wanna fall in love with you"

Maybe it's just the optimist in me.
After Bill's intro to this song, naming the guitar player and his contribution to the song, I said to myself "An old school DJ".
impossible to sing anywhere close to how he manages to. Unique
Roy Orbison's long lost son
Beautiful song ruined by overplay.

Looks like a young Kurt Russell on the album cover 🤔
My favorite "cover" of this song is on Josh Ritter's Live the The Iveagh Gardens album, where bass player Zack Hickman unexpectedly belts out part of Wicked Game. Go check it out.
timeless... divine...

Ha, I just saw him and he was wearing that mirror suit in the wiki pic and cracking jokes about it all night. Great show, cool guy, aged well too.

If you have the chance to see Chris in concert, don't think about it, just go, you won't be disappointed.
I paid waaaay too much attention to this video when it came out on MTV and got caught by my mom.
Only 3 chords. Amazing.
Said by a friend of mine... "Women get pregnant just *listening* to this song!"

It's a 4 or 5 on the Orbison scale.  Roy singing this would deliver chills on the big notes.

I think it is a bit of a yodel nod/tribute if you will.  Certainly not full-on yodeling, but that yodel-y crack from full voice to falsetto is definitely there.

I always thought that a part of his singing style was a nod to Slim Whitman and/or Frank Ifield.

Reminds me so much of Ricky Nelson. Who? LOL Look him up. Ozzie And Harriet.
I remembered watching the video to this song and having to quickly turn off the TV when my mom came in the room. Thanks for the memory.
Great Song...Better Video

Mistakenly I always mistook the artist for Roy Orbison.  He gets my 10 too... guitar AND vocal chords intertwine...iiiiiin...iiiing....
Enough said ....

love this one  : )
I've loved this song since the first time I heard it over 25 years ago. Still feel the same.
Great transition from Delerium Innocente.  Bill has an incredible ear.

Average rating 8.4.  A lot of negative, but certainly many, including me really enjoying this tune.  Boston 1991.  Thanks Bill.

Love Chris's crooner, Roy Orbison like voice.  Great music. We saw him in Missoula, MT one summer evening.  He came into the crowd and stood next to my wife!  Think that didn't just blow her mind.  He has a wonderful self-effacing sense of humor.
Sexy sexy sexy. Check out Wolf Alice's cover of this - good stuff!
