Tonight
If only tonight
I need something stronger, baby
Tonight
Like the moon and the stars
I don't know what you are
I can't wait any longer
Tonight
Only love is the real sugar
Only love is the real...
Everybody's ever felt lonely snap your finger
Everybody's ever felt lonely...
They say
There is a way
If you believe in something good
It could happen today
And baby
I'm trying hard to sound vague
But can I just hold you in my arms
Promise you we'll never
Talk about the promise again
Only love is the real sugar
Only love is the real...
Tonight
If only tonight
I need something stronger, baby
Can you provide?
Like the moon and the stars
I don't know what you are
I can't wait any longer
Tonight
Cause only love is the real sugar
Only love is the real...
Everybody's ever felt lonely snap your fingers
Everybody's ever felt lonely...
If only tonight
I need something stronger, baby
Tonight
Like the moon and the stars
I don't know what you are

Strongly recommend their album The Ideal Crash.
(Some impressive lyric writing in a second language, also.)

Sounds to me like Jeff Tweedy.
beautiful track
I like this and I have heard it here before - it’s just clicked
For a moment, I thought this was Fran Healy....
Cool!
Strongly J.J. Cale, except for the orchestral interludes. And yes, some Steely Dan.
Very nice!!

Yeah, it has a real 70's sound. An ease to the groove, but a solid groove. Tasty it is.

This is quite good. Does anyone know if their other music is this good?
Hey the_jake,
as a fellow-belgian I feel entitled enough to comment on this
dEUS is in fact one of the more groundbreaking bands we've had the last couple of decades.
Their early stuff is very good, think of a mix of more darker tones, sometimes with a heavy guitar sound (by which I mean both heavy distortion but also noise-driven) often followed by the melodic equivalent of the sky opening up after a heavy torrent.
Sometimes experimental, but often with strokes of genius.
Their line-up has always included some of the best musicians we've had in the country and Tom Barman is a bit of an acquired taste for many, but always delivers some drama (emotion).
I'm definitely not a huge fan, but whenever I hear one of their many gems, I always have to think hard on why I'm, in fact, not

A bit perhaps, but I'm really picking up on some J.J. Cale vibe too. Excellent tune.
Anyone else hear King Crimson, "One Time"?

Now I like that idea!
Woow - did not know they are that good!
SURPRISED!
i love this song.... yesterday i was on a concert, where they play this song, now on rp :-)
I'm thinking the matte shots from the CG movie Robots. The characters were designed by a fellow graphics dog from my days indentured in Shreveport, LA, William Joyce.
I see pipes pipes and more pipes, ala 'ammonia avenue' by alan parsons

This song would be a perfect vehicle for John Martyn!

Same thoughts here...this could just as easily be Gerry Rafferty/Stealers Wheel or Seals & Crofts. Most excellent. I'm assuming these guys were influenced by Captain Beefheart...anyone?

Reminds me of Josh Rouse.. excellent!

Funny - I was just thinking the same thing about Stingray. The song - not much better with better headphones. I gave it a 5 too.

Bill, for the record: it's pronounced day-us, not 'deuce'
The U is actually pronounced like the double oo in foot, cuz it's latin. That's why their name is written dEUS, cuz in latin you would write Deus with a capital D (the exact opposite)
shame on you for being belgian and not knowing this!
djblitz wrote:where do you find this stuff?
Probably here:

Bought this album from iTunes and it is FABULOUS. One of my favourite new (to me) bands.
One on the best bands there is ( or is that because i am from belgium), why aren't there more songs of them here on radio paradise.
Sounds somewhat like Michael Franks?
What a beautifully atonal segue:
Jeff Beck - Freeway Jam
Deus - Real Sugar
RP: I love the way you've introduced me to a wonderful array of music.
This blows....
