Remember the weight of the world?
It's a sound that we used to buy
On cassette and 45
And now this little girl
She says, "Will we make it at all?
800 miles is a drive"

Yeah, you got the weight of the world
Coming down like a mother's eye
And all that you can
All that you can give is a cold goodbye
The law enforcement's impressed
You've survived to this age
Strapped-up soldiers
They'll lock you in a cage without goodbye
For a nickel bribe

But, aw, no, where are you tonight?
And how'd we get here?
It's too late to break it off
I need a release
The signals have called
But that don't get me off
I summon you to appear, my love

Uh-huh
Mm, uh-huh

Got the weight of the world
I summon you here, my love

Remember the weight of the world?
It's a sound that we used to buy
And all that you can
All that you can give is a cold goodbye
The law enforcement's impressed
You've survived to this age
Strapped-up soldiers
They'll lock you in a cage without goodbye
For a nickel bribe

But aw, no, where are you tonight?
And how'd we get here?
It's too late to break it off
I need a release
The signals have called
But that don't get me off
I summon you here, my love

Uh-huh
Mm, uh-huh

Got the weight of the world
I summon you here, my love

Na-na
Na-na, uh-huh

The signals have called
But that don't get me off
I summon you here, my love

Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, bye
Ooh-hoo

One of my favorite bands. I think I have almost all their albums.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to watch them live.
One of William's fabulous segues from Lady Gaga's "Happy Mistake".
Spoon is cool! 10
weird, i'm hearing Clinic's song For The Wars, but it's saying it is I Summon You by Spoon. weird.
their new album is awesome, back to basics
loving spoons

No sir I didn't like it
Thanks RP for introducing Spoon to me. Along with Madrugada, Cake and loads of other great bands.
How about giving some other talents a try
Why do you always play spoon ?
I met the lead singer of Spoon at an Emo's hip hop show in Austin Texas. I remember when Spoon came out, and being interested in their rise in popularity, being a band native to Austin. Seeing them years later on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart was pretty surreal

Me too, actually, Spoon and Cake go nicely together.
Just saw them last week in Vancouver, and Britt played this solo and acoustic... so good!

Fantastic...about time that SPOON gets played. GREAT JOB RP!

Wow...this track's first comment was right around when I started listening to RP way back in October 2005 (I know....ancient in Internet years!) - and BnR's inclusion of Spoon in their playlist is part of why I've been an RP fan ever since.

Long Live RP!!

I know what you mean,
I have been warming up to them here lately also,
maybe we are finally catching up to them

Years ago, a few of my dishes ran away with some of them; I didn't find it amusing at the time.

I only know them from this wonderful, idiosyncratic tune. But it's distinctive enough that I thought these might be the same guys.

Been liking quite a bit from this album. Perhaps I should purchase.
I saw Spoon and could only think of the Tick flying into battle
Spoon does seem a bit bent recently.  This is a good tune, too.  {#Chef}
Great song — have not heard in a loooong time

better than their more recent stuff...
Another great set this morning! Thanks RP! Since i have the chance to hear this station, i cannot stand the commercial ones.

Never heard this band before. This tune grabbed me right away. Love it. Especially the simple but way effective acoustic guitar riff. Something about the SOUND of this track blows me away.
I love how the Wiki link takes you to a page about spoons (as in the utensil)
{#Cheesygrin}

Pretty good tunes though.

Of all the silverware in front of me, Spoon is my favorite.  {#Roflol}
additional spoon always welcome
Bump a point. This one caught my attention again. {#Bounce}
Good stuff!! I give it a dancing banana     {#Bananasplit}

That's a music I love , супер!

Oh, I haven't heard this song in forever!  Forgot how much I loved it.  Thanks, RP.
You can say "repetitive." I will say "well crafted pop tune." Most excellent.

Dang! I was JUST about to post about how much this song reminds you of Elvis Costello.
Strong resemblance to Rockpile....Nick Lowe & Dave Edmunds.

So musicians should arm themselves to the teeth and shoot at anyone who steals their music? I'm sure Ted Nugent would be into it.
Hey, that's good! Never heard of them, but I love it!
Jaunty guitar riffs and walking bassline. I could use more of this. An 8

Yeah, and invading another country and stealing their natural resources and propping them up under the banner of "freedom" is just (if not more) illegal and we all still pay taxes to support it, right? Idealism and ultimate morality really only work in idealist situations.

(click here) Almost 30 downtown condo projects underway presently. The link is to an interactive map of current projects; kind of nuts around here lately.

Great set at Lolla!
How was Summerfest? I miss that whole week of debauchery. I bet Spoon put on a good show! darthblav wrote:

Welcome roodboy. Stay tuned. I didn't like this much the first time but it grows on you. And if it doesn't - well that's OK -Bill & Rebecca will play something you like. Guaranteed/
i really like how this emoticon sums up the song
If you get a chance, listen to the whole album in a sitting. Kind of brings everything together, I think. roodboy wrote:

Hello, This song is certainly in heavy rotation lately... Neil

Lessons?
It is good and all, but after a couple of hundred listens the dry guitar backing turns a bit repetitive and dull. And i long for some Lennon instead.
Another cd I bought thanks to RP.

10. Likely my fave disc of the decade so far.
Nice transition from CH. Nearly seamless.

Fantastic song on a fantastic album, but it's a minor shame "I Turn My Camera On" hasn't made RP's playlist. Sure, the song sounds like a cut off of "Some Girls", but it's got more energy than an Iranian nuclear reactor.
This is SUCH an underrated band! I've loved just about everything they've put out--especially in the Stranger Than Fiction soundtrack.
7 => 8 So nice.
summon me and i shall come.
Love the Red
cute. guitar is a bit overwhelming though...
Bill, I love it! Just bought off iTunes. Never heard of this band before this.
My rating for this little gem continues to climb. It randomly barges into my head periodically and then won't leave. Damn fine song.
Forget the spoon... Use the fork, Luke!

Somehow I don't agree that Crowded House (just played) sounds like the Beatles, yet this sounds just like ELO to me . . .
man. work is really cutting into my undivided RP enjoyment! love this!
Spooooooooooooooooooooooon!
Ok, I'm convinced, this song is awesome, thanks Bill!
Couldn't they think up a better name than Spoon? Was Spork taken?
I liked this so much I just donated $20 to RP!
I like the lead singer's voice. And they remind me of the Beatles too...
First time I heard this, I did not care for it at all. It's up to a 7 by now.

What a catchy tune. Repetitive but nice. Thanks Bill!
