Shouldn't that be Sax?
Bosch stood on his balcony, pondering the frailties of the human spirit. In the distance, the twinkling lights on the highway sparkled like false dreams...
(Sorry, went right off on one there for a mo. Ahem.)
- Don't leave us hanging, keep going with this!
Bill's on a roll.
Bulky or poppyseed?

Hey Bill and Rebecca -- I adore Radio Paradise! I just wish you played jazz more often.
I AGREE!! COMPLETELY!!
Somnambulistic. Tuneless noodling.
Sorry, but you've been voted off the island by most of the other RP listeners!
VERY EXCELLENT! Play more Coltane & McCoy Tyner!
Great recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder handled this.
YES! He was a pioneer, he introduced Neumann condenser microphones, while 25mi away, most NYC record label studios were using RCA ribbon mics, designed in the late '30s by Harry Olsen. He was also the first to adopt EQ (equalization) into custom built mixing consoles, while the NYC studios were using broadcast consoles with no EQ!
taking giant steps
Love the way RP mixes it up. While other places celebrate sub-dividing music by genre; RP gives us the holistic auditory experience and I just dig the way jazz is sprinkled in.

Can't agree more. Love almost all genres, this station is fantastic at picking good music from all genres.
Oh look. Somebody got to use one of his BIG words!
Was it featured in a recent movie? Lots of jazz choices to choose from why this one?
Do you really think John Coltrane needs a reason?
Was it featured in a recent movie? Lots of jazz choices to choose from why this one?
Because it's a lovely song by a legendary musician at the top of his game. And how old do you think Bill is?

Yes. I wish they can put add some more of it. Balance out country, folk, blues and jazz.

When Tyner cut loose, nobody comes close. he was amazing.
McCoy Tyner recently passed away. RIP!
I'm in France, still working for the 'big kitchen' -we supply food to 3 hospitals and 7 'old peoples homes' ... my 'down time' involves a lot of RP, I like the ability to *flick* between rock, main & mellow ... you are not alone ;D
I get high on his solos on Kind of Blue....but his version of "Favorite Things" on soprano is just way too trippy. I swerve off the road and end up in a new time zone, when I drive and hear that song.
And how do you forget the piano man, McCoy T?

Not really. Pull 'em back to one, please.
Apparently, Jazz is not your thing. Perhaps one day you will become enlightened to the joy that awaits.
That is a divine sax.
Who is Ernie? Ernest Borgnine of course! JK
That is a divine sax.
Who is Ernie?
Let's go. I'll treat.
get the glasses out, Grammarcop! While the weather is chilly in Seattle, it's the good cold when the sun's out and snow would happen if it were warmer....great PNW for you....still I'll take my scotch neat if you're pouring...Long Live RP!!
Strongly disagree.

Thanks easmann for that PDF and for who Ernie was. I've never heard of Fred Lacey, and googling doesn't turn up much so far...
Oh yeah!

sounds like he is in house on my kit
Perfect for a relaxing late afternoon in winter.
I think he was the goofy looking one from 'My Three Sons'. Or not.
I recently heard a quote Cole made about his style. "It's liked starting a sentence in the middle and playing to the beginning and the end at the same time".

"Not everyone wants to hear" any one music of any genre; no matter what artist or genre Bill plays there will be those who dislike it. Given that this song's rating is presently at 7.9, one could guess the a majority of listeners here "want to hear" songs like this - despite the fact that you don't like it. By the way, there is plenty of country music played here - well, depending on one's definition of "country".
— Will (entertainscape.com)
Because this isn't a country channel, and 98% of country sucks.
I figured SOMEBODY would find a reason to complain about this PERFECT ballad.
"ECLECTIC".
is there a smoother sax?

John Coltrane truly was THE MASTER OF MOOD...
