Me, you, and your death wish
It's a love triangle it's a dangerous deal
Me, you, and your death wish
He's had a hard road to travel
He's got memories to lose
Can we go out into the desert where he can't find us
He's like Amboy at midnight
A ghost town with the blues
I an hear his boot heels crunching in the gravel behind us
I love the feel of your sorrow the scars on your skin
We could heal by tomorrow if love would take us in
But it won't take him, your death wish
Delilah says to her angel kick him out of the car
Drop him off at the truck stop in Pomona
Set him up with a stranger set him up at a bar
By the time he figures out we'll be in Arizona
I love the feel of your sorrow the scars on your skin
We could heal by tomorrow if love would take us in
But it won't take him, your death wish
Angel says to Delilah
Well you know you might be right
But I feel just like I'm dying
With you holding on to me so tight
So drop us off at the train yard drive on through the night
You'll be deep in the desert by dawn's early light
I love the feel or your sorrow the scars on your skin
But I'll be gone tomorrow if love should take us in
'Cause it won't take him, my death wish

Radio Paradise has a free app and doesn't use computer coding to determine what music its listeners hear.
Pretty certain the pissify premium link you inserted is not free.

nice but there are a thousand performers that sound and look just like her

Does she pay Lucinda Williams royalties?
These two musicians are basically contemporaries. She has been at this for at least as long as Lucinda and I see no reason to see anything other than 2 musicians who are basically contemporaries and who write their own songs. I think this has more to do with living in the same country in the same era. Both are excellent, in my estimation. I have seen both in concert and will do so again as soon as feasible.
Yeah, all those folkie-pinko-hippie-liberal bastards, with their compassion, concern for future generations, and thought for people other than themselves. We should line em all up against the wall, or disappear them, or conduct shock-therapy torture on them like we did in Chile, Argentina, Guatemala... Screw anyone who thinks there's anything more important than the profit margins of the wealthiest one percent right?
As others pointed out before me already: totally beside the point.
that is because the leftoids have had humor surgically removed with all common sense and logic.
Soooooo true.

actually you couldn't be more wrong

For someone who writes such an angry, sarcastic response, it's surprising that you seem incapable of recognizing sarcasm or facetiousness in someone else's post. The poster you responded to clearly had admiration and respect for Eliza and was making light of her stage persona, yet you felt it necessary to go off on an unhinged, self-righteous tirade.

....- I was her kept toyboy. Ah, happy days. ........
And still you had a deathwish?

Oh fred. Stop bragging!
fredriley working that six-pack, eh kcar?
She looks like the woman I went out with in the late 80s - I was her kept toyboy. Ah, happy days. She (my GF) couldn't sing like this, mind. What a fine voice - 8 from the nostalgic Nottingham jury.
You have completely blown my mind and made my day before Thanksgiving. ROFL: fredriley as Kept Toyboy. Never, never would have imagined this.
"Hold me, fredriley! Let me sing some Eliza Gilkyson for you!"
Good on ya, mate.
more important, i can hear dylanish riffs, and in fact would not mind hearing mr. dylan sing it, with or without ms. gilkyson. Damn her name is hard to spell. oh well, hope to see more of it.
Miss you so much, Cynaera...
this song is cool...

I nominate you for the noble piece prize dude.
I'll bet. Her voice is powerful and sure with a realistic touch of huskiness, and automatically assumes the position of attention. Sounds like she's not close to her decibel limit on this recording.
..ya make a good case for actually looking, Cuse-!..(heh!)..
..my 1st exposure to Gilkyson..good 8 at the outset..thx as ever, RP!..

I for one can appreciate the tongue-in-cheek nature of this comment. Those that are offended by it either don't get the dark humor or find the comment cuts a little too close to the bone for their comfort.
Pretty sure he was kidding...irony through hyperbole, yes?

jelani, calling someone an "idiot" just because they post a comment with which you don't agree is, in my opinion, childish and dismissive. As is my response to you:
Ahem. Having said that, I'ma go hug a tree, donate my last five bucks to Animal House Shelter and Sanctuary, and have a shot of Bacardi while sitting in my garden, soaking up a little of the rare autumn sunshine.
Well, no.

classy, and very talented. Eliza has much to say.

Oh, and she just bought a house here!

Eliza was amazing. Not having her band, she was given the freedom of a lone woman with a guitar on a bare stage. She dispensed with her format and simply played whatever songs she liked, in whatever order she liked. Between, she joked with audience members, told rambling stories about places she'd been and people she'd known, and made a close bond with all of us in so doing. She even took requests! If I ever had doubts about Eliza being a superior artist, they were put to rest that night.
Wow.
Deep thoughts.
Quite desolate indeed.
Seconded. It's a great line.
A "7" from the West of Icelandic Volcano Clouds Jury
I´d be listening to that class closely...this is good stuff

Now that's just plain mean!
Me no likey.
Me too. I was beginning to think that Bill had played her twice in a couple of hours until I checked the playlist. I like this song though.
However, upon checking out the album as a whole, I like her vocal quality and the lyrics less.
I still really like the base feel of many of the songs, though.
Me no likey.
Same! I was thinking slightly older Joan Osborne. Liked it.
This is great stuff.
Yea, me, too!
okay, but you never hear men commenting on how all men sound the same, post modern drivel? no way dude.
Let me be the first then. Most post-modern (wtf is that?) male singers have the same raspy, whispering, I-can't-really-sing voice. Ray La Montagne, the dude from Coldplay (though he can almost hit a note) plenty of others but I gotta get to work.
You don't really hear it said about women, either. Sometimes a guy's voice reminds you of another singer, sometimes a woman's voice reminds you of another singer.
I'm not sure what your point is as there no difference between the genders here.
I was commenting on someone applauding that this singer sounds different than other female singers, and how he sometimes thinks they all sound the same.. My point is that there are similarities in voices, not just female voices, get it?

Whoa stop the post modern drivel! Take note: anyone who is honest about it can tell whether a chick is singing during a certain era; you can hear a distinct difference between the voices of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and so on. Why? I don't know. The timbre, inflection, and overall quality are distinct to the decade. The same applies to guy voices.
Yep to that. You either like it or you don't...................
Nice lyrics to this number, and a very nice rendition.

My position is that since the 1980s guys have not been in the same league with the female artists. They have that 80s, 90s, etc quality of voice; but I know who my favorite chicks are just the same. Yes the guys all sound alike to me-just plain bad!

yeeeah, all the female singers sound alike, just like all white people - black people - asian people look the same. come on dude!

Of all Eliza Gilkyson's wonderful music, this is not one of her better songs.
I guess you never really absorbed the lyrics.
