I finally got our local bird rehabber to put her 501(3)c on Facebook so people can do a Facebook Birthday Fundraiser...

Ironside Bird Rescue in Cody Wyoming is basically one woman who's been doing her amazing work for as long as I can remember. Like, since I was in high school, she's been "The Bird Lady" and bringing hawks and owls to schools but also driving all over the state to save birds.

Please consider donating to Ironside Bird Rescue!Thank you all.

That's a lovely liquid sound. The brown-headed cowbirds have a similar bubbly liquid song, but I'm not a fan of their habits.

We have a Ptarmigan Mountain nearby so I was surprised to learn that we don't have ptarmigans.

Yesterday, I was sitting all by my lonesome in the grizzly-infested woods and somewhere about 20' behind me, a male grouse did his chest-drumming thing. Yowza! I didn't see the birds until much later... I got a photo of him displaying a little too...

I been seeing a new yellow bird in the pine trees near the feeder this spring. I finally got a good look at it today.
it's a male Magnolia Warbler. We are just south of his normal range so he might just be passing through.

Yes, I know. But this is probably as close as I will ever get to seeing one. So completely and noticeably different from the pileateds.
