UPDATE: I've ordered one today and it will hopefully be delivered in 24-48 hours. I was able to play with a unit today for a little while streaming another 128kbps (MP3) stream - not RP, I didn't get to change it - and it worked well (good sound, no dropouts). I'll post back to the thread when I have mine up and running in case it is useful information for any other RP listeners.

I'm in Melbourne and I don't use Tivoli Audio radio to listen to RP. I use the 24k AAC+ stream and listen through a software player I wrote for myself that uses the bass.dll library.
Given all that, the quality is awesome. No buffering, latency or dropout problems at all.
Not sure how helpful that is to you.

I know how good the RP streaming audio quality is and how good it can sound through a good HiFi system; I have had a Roku Soundbridge for several years (and have listened to the highest-speed AAC+ stream since Bill introduced it and the Soundbridge was able to support it), and also use Airtunes to Airport Express units in several parts of the house to have RP piped around it all too.

What I'm particularly interested in is the quality and stability of the internet radio stream decoding within the Tivoli Audio "Networks radio" itself - and the general user experience with the internet streaming on the unit - (ie with it decoding the stream directly; not with it decoded by an external device and pumped into its Aux input jack as already L+R analog audio).

I'm hoping someone on here has one, because it could hopefully help me not make an expensive waste-of-money purchase.

Have you dealt with Tivoli Audio in a support/repair situation? How were they?

BTW in Australia, as you probably already know, internet access is almost universally "metered" and relatively expensive. I pay something like $A120 for 60Gbytes/month of traffic (bytes up and down are both included in the chargeable traffic) on quite high-speed cable (over 30Mbit/sec down, about 1.5MBit/sec up). Streaming RP doesn't really amount to a large amount of that - certainly not compared with my 3 kids playing on XBox Live, watching youtube videos and so forth. I also listen to RP on my iPhone and 3G data traffic for that is _really_ expensive here (works very well but very expensive). Off the top of my head I'm paying about $80/month for 5Gbytes of mobile data - again both directions are metered; voice calls, SMS, voicemail, etc is all additional to that.

I'm thinking of replacing my bedroom clock/radio with a Tivoli Audio Networks radio (internet radio, FM and DAB+ digital radio). One of these: http://www.tivoliaudio.com/home.php?cat=271 (but actually the specific DAB+ version that is available in Australia - http://www.tivoliaudio.com.au/networks.html).

Looks to be a good system; as well as replacing my "old school" clock radio with a DAB+ one and of course having the internet streaming so I can have RP as my alarm in the morning, the shape of it and the auxiliary audio input means it can do double-service as the speakers for the Mac Mini that I use in the bedroom.

Anyway, my question is does anyone use one of these units to stream RP? Looking on their website through the list of radio stations - it looks like they are set up there then you choose on your radio, rather than entering the URL of the stream directly yourself on the unit - they have (only) the 128k MP3 stream for RP listed. I'd prefer the AAC+ stream of course, and I _think_ the Networks radio should support it (AAC+ is the codec used over-the-air in DAB+ digital radio), but if the system works and sounds well with that stream I'll be happy.

I can't see where I'd be able to test/demo the internet streaming capability of one in Sydney (specifically to make sure it doesn't suffer from the buffering/pausing issues that some other streaming hardware has down here in Australia when listening to overseas streams due to the latency) and at nearly $A1000 it is a bit outside of the "impulse buy, if it doesn't work out quite right it doesn't matter" price level.

So any advice from people who listen to RP through one of these would be appreciated. Thanks.
