Interesting guy. Hope things worked well for him out there...

I always liked the cantankerous old fart (I think that's what he called himself)...had some nice vintage audio gear, and advice.

I  believe he is an audio engineer brainiac...

Is s/he really a troll? The only comments they've offered indicate ignorant/narrow-minded views regarding vocalists and music.

Are such people beyond salvation? (maybe I shouldn't ask you ; > ) )

My kids have periodically fallen into the habit of thinking "I don't like that = that sucks!", particularly regarding music. I think as they mature, they are slowly coming around to a more tolerant and open-minded view of things.

Make up your mind; do you want primitive, rootsy music performed by the song creator, or polished performances by trained, talented singers?

———————————————————-

This is a common carp in the Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen and other song comment threads.  You could find lots of other examples of popular performers who were not accomplished, pitch-perfect singers (Jimmy Durante, Louis Armstrong).

If you want to limit your listening to music featuring trained/instinctively polished vocalists with operatic control of pitch and phrasing, be my guest. You'll be the poorer for it.

He doesn't need permission.

It's a little late to bring up now, anyhow: He's been putting out records for 40 years.
