We had ourselves a Firefly marathon this past weekend. Neither of us had ever seen the show before and now we're hooked - the Serenity disc is supposed to show up today.

You must NOT watch the movie until you've finished the series. Don't ask why, but it's true.

Bah. Worked fine for me the other way 'round.

Could not possibly. Watching the movie after developing the emotional investment in the TV characters made the movie much more rich. Like watching the M*A*S*H finale without watching the shows preceding.

And in case you haven't OD'd on Firefly/Serenity already:

 - Dark Horse has the first few pages of the next Serenity comic posted.
 - Browncoat Ball 2010 will be in Charlotte this year.
 - Jose Molina is giving interviews here and here.  Probably more to come since the book came out today.

Well now I dunno about that.  Personally, I've been banking on smarts, imagination, and of course "the kindness of strangers" my whole life.  While gender shouldn't have anything to do with it, we all know that in reality it does.  And being a geeky girl has always been cooler than being a girly geek.  Oh wait!  That's not what I meant.  Than being a dude geek.  Although that is changing.  Which is a good thing.  Thanks to the OC and Chuck and such the geek as heartthrob is gaining ground.  Although for some of us Clark Kent was always more interesting and way hotter.

EDIT: added link and removed double of course

"Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale," the long-awaited origin story of enigmatic holy man Shepherd Book from Joss Whedon's "Firefly" TV series and its cinematic sequel "Serenity," is still six months away, but Dark Horse has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at artist Steve Morris's cover to the graphic novel.

EDIT: Why yes, it is Geek Pride Day.  Could you tell?

I wonder how he'll deliver the musical episode.
