Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.

Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.

But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye.

Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

I know Mr Young is a grumpy old man - but he does write and sing a fantastic tune - keep playing this original and please hold back on any covers of this particular song!!

A friend worked for Neil and Peg. Nicest people in the world and amazing parents.
We tried messing around with this a few years ago!

HARVEST MOON
Crazy but this song always makes me think like eating  fried chicken  whith my love ina relaxed site.

My daughter just turned 18.  You got me crying thinking about the possibility of dancing with her at her wedding in a few years.  She was a 5 year old girl just the other day.

This would be a good song for dancing with your daughter at her wedding though.  We'll see if I can remember when the time comes.
Always turn this one up!  It brings back such lovely memories of snow camping with my husband (now of 36 years) with a full moon above and the tops of the tallest ponderosa trees standing tall above our heads.  So peaceful, so quiet, so much Love!
I didn't care for this song much when I first heard it, but over the years it has really grown on me.  It's just lovely.
Honestly, I should really love this song, but there's just something about the way he sings that I can't stand. Which is funny because I like Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.
Perfect song. Thank god for Neil
have been a fan ever since Harvest, one of my earliest album purchases. Even when i didn't find one of his multiple musical directions exactly stellar, credit was given for the consistent experimentation and desire to try different things. this was a bit of a return and i thought he was "tying things up" to retire. that was 1992 and he is still rocking and making music. bravo!
still zesty
Could be the most pleasant song I've ever heard.
I'm not much of a Neil Young fan, but this is lovely.
Beautiful song for a nice night as a couple.
Neil needs a safe space for his music.
Respect to Neil.
Another one for my anniversary playlist. My wife and I always drop what we are doing when this comes on and dance. ❤️❤️❤️
A genuine Canadian treasure. Rock on Dude!
Just watching it rise out here in Honolulu. Nice, Bill!
Probably the perfect song. God he’s so good at creating a mood.
school dance memories.

one of the last songs to play...  wondering how far his hand was going to travel...

... and then the lights came on.
Always loved this song - but always thought the lyric should have been “‘neath this harvest moon”. How can you dance “on” a celestial object? More importantly, how can I argue with a lyricist of Neil’s caliber? Never mind! 😆

Can we get the Andrew Bird cover of this (or probably any cover, really)? It's a beautiful song, but good lord I just can't take Neil's squealing.

Cassandra Wilson does a sublime version

Yeah, the songs a big fav of a lot of folks and easy to play. Got me a girl when I played it for her. My peeve is why'd Mister Peace and Love leave his wife Peggy who was his muse and his son and leave his ranch on Skyline and the cars and guitars and studio and the Bridge School Benefit and all that? For whom and what? Really turned me off as a fan when he did that. Unforgivable.

Anyway for those who dream of a small place in the Redwoods to go dancing one evening well here you are:

Don't judge when you can't possibly know all sides to the story. We humans are complex and live complicated lives.
This one gets better with every listen.   8-9

Happened to see this video a few nights back on Sky Arts - a UK director shot a number of NY Videos and each so different - still one of my very favourite love songs
Simply sublime love song...

Most of Neil Young's music is a little raw for me, but this song is a diamond. 9 -> 10. Beautiful mood, playing, singing and lyric. So gorgeous.

I absolutely hate Neil Young. His performance on-stage looks like a wounded badger wiggling free of a bear trap. His voice alone is like nails on a chalkboard. That being said, this song is great. The exception to my perception. A 10 !!!

I am not sure how it happened, but this became "our song"...smooch to Inta!

Neil is my all time favorite and this is my favorite song of his.
{#Heartkiss}  VIDEO:  I want to dance at this bar in a redwood forest, to this song, on a beautiful night with the harvest moon shining overhead.  Oh, I need someone awesome to dance with. {#Cheers}
I'm starting to dislike Neil Young.  I guess repetition does not make the heart grow fonder in this case.
Not much of a fan of Neil Young but this is a great song.
So kind, so honest. So Neil and forever young in my mind..

A 10, for the warm memories it triggers each time I hear it.

I loved dancing to this with her, every time. It always takes me back:
slow, slow, quick, quick, quick...

I remember:
I was recently separated, devastated, eviscerated.

In her beach chair, I saw her peering at me over top of her sunglasses, and her sky-blue eyes had me hooked.

To be fair, it was all due to her 6-year old daughter being mesmerized by my 7-year old identical (at the time) twin boys. So fascinated was she by the duplicate boys (so she thought at that age), she had to drag them (and me) back to her mom to show her this wonder of the world.

That led to church basement Saturday night dances for single parents. She taught me to just let go, feel the music and allow my body to follow its natural inclination to move to a beat.

Man, did that ever become fun on the dance floor, and off...  ;-)

I am finding my previous ratings for this AM's songs to be exactly what I still feel!  What a great song and artist.

This song always has me recalling an old friend with a smile.  She was heartbroken over a former love and while consoling her one evening, this song came on - so I made her get up and dance with me.  I dipped her and spun her and it made us both laugh so hard.  We don't talk anymore, but I still think of her everyday.  I hope she's happy now.

One of best love songs.
Watched Neil and the boys play this at Desert Trip- under a full moon of course.  Made my wife cry. That one moment was worth the price of the tickets.  Thanks Neil.

I'm not much for complaining about a song being overplayed but this one is starting to bore me I've heard it so much

:-) nice.
This song doesn't mean as much to me now after he left his wife for Daryl Hannah. In the end, I hope everyone's happy.

Nice, but the unplugged version is far superior imo.
Harvest Moon is a kind of copy of his most sucsessful album Harvest.
Together with James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt as back-up and instrumentalised
by Stray gators. But not so depressiv and uncertain.
Beautiful love songs as Neil said a "femal" album...

Just when you think this song can't get any more beautifully melancholy, the harmonica kicks in. Just amazing.
oh my word, this song is in a category all of its own....tender and oh so beautiful...  I have to tell you its a cold, rainy, winter night here - NY and Harvest Moon has just turned it into a warm summer evening... that's magic isn't it?
Reminds me of "The Pallbearer".
Great song. A well deserved 9 for me.

Another one of the greatest songs ever written. Bill I just seem to walk in at the right moments. What a storyteller. This song gets extra love...it was me and my exes song

Can believe this is well over 20 years old. I remember its release like it was yesterday.
RP is pulling out some classics for me tonight.

Love this - esp the first track of the album "unknown legend". Just awesome.
