That album cover reminds me of a certain King Crimson album cover.
Mick (I assume thats him?) in his English Rose garb always brings a smile to my face.

There really should be a picture with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac here!  Those ladies had nothing to do with this Genius!

The pic on the album cover is NOT a woman.  It's Mick Fleetwood dressed as a woman.  Done as a joke.  I'm pretty sure this album included Black Magic Woman too.  These were the Peter Green days.

Hmm, hope it’s not just me, but I hear a slight bit of distortion on certain guitar high notes?
Totally a Godlike 10.  He was called The Green  God after all.

Can't get anything done while this is playing.  Brain just zones out, imagining how peaceful it would be to soar around the sky as an albatross for extended periods of time.

Can't change the one on wikipedia - yea, understood. But here, i thought Bill-i-am could do whatever he likes on his station...
They were great decades ago but when the 'past members' list doubles the 'current members' list and the current members are in Hospice....they should take the banner down.
So majestic, takes me away to a better place and time....

Legendary and iconic in all its sound, ,thanks to the amazing Peter Green✌️

Yep, cracking blues
I'd sure like to try flying a sailplane for hours riding a ridge wave while listening to this on loop, pretending to be an albatross.  I imagine that would be pretty great.

Peter Green and Danny Kirwan were one of the greatest double solo guitars ever

The same one that gave yours the thumbs-down too, I expect, friend.  Takes all sorts...
Album cover is reminiscent of King Crimson's

the WikipediaA posted should reflect the members at the time of Albatross, English Rose Album. the information is not accurate as to the music that is playing. Give credit to whom credit is due.  Peter Green
Ottmar Liebert does a fantastic version of this song. Check it out.

There was a concert back in Feb 2020 before all this madness - Mick Fleetwood and friends celebrate the music of Peter Green and the early years of Fleetwood Mac - one of the guests is David Gilmour - he plays Albatross on his slide guitar to the delight of the audience – it is well truly worth finding it - and, if you can, also look for ‘Oh Well Part 2’

It's on YouTube, just search Peter Green Tribute.

Considering the album title, it's actually perfect. Mick Fleetwood in drag.

Great song. John Lennon liked it so much he cribbed it a bit for Sun King :)
Wonderful song by a great group...just find it curious that the pic of the band accompanying this has no resemblance to the ensemble which created this track. They were a whole different band back then, way more bluesy!

Funny I first heard this song with ottmar liebert in the mid 90s

Had to check your birthday. Your profile tells me you are from 1960. This song came out when you were nine and must have been played a million times since then. Where have you been the last 47 years? Just curious.

One wouldn't have had to be hiding not to have heard this song much since its release.  This song didn't really receive a lot of airplay in The States after the early 1970s, especially if one didn't live near the bigger cities which played album cuts and more obscure singles.
Anyhow, cool tune.
I've been doing research lately, educating myself about Fleetwood Mac. Before then, I didn't know "Albatross" was such a big hit for them.

Talented guy but I don't think Mick Fleetwood would have cut it as a girl!

That LP cover gives me nightmares.
Wow, it's been so long I forgot this tune existed. Sweet.

ALBATROSS fer CHRIST SAKE!
Very, very nice{#Kiss}
Such dreamy, creamy, buttery blues emanated from this guy and this band back in the day... For mellow, this jams pretty good; tasty!
10 without doubt! How long since I heard this masterpiece the last time... {#Meditate}{#Notworthy}
a 10..... quite a difference from later fleetwood mac

Rather puts me in mind of post coital tristesse.

It's a Monty Python album!

Peter Green, Mick, Mac.. cool.
Sublime
I was 3 when this came out, loved it then, still love it now!

Dragonfly is also a beautiful little song - maybe worth cueing up on here some time?

Similar riffs exist throughout music - always have been. It's what artists DO with them that counts. Music is one of few sacred Universal balms for humanity. I'll  not be too quick to judge it.
Ah, yes ... the song John Lennon cribbed a bit of for Sun King :)
Beautiful piece.  Never heard it till now.  Thanks, RP, you make life much richer.
I have never looked,felt.listened @ music ever since listening to it a growing kid growing up. It used to be closing music @ 1 am when the local TV station in Monterey CA. closed for the day.{#Notworthy}{#Chillpill}
Majestic in its instrumental quality. And a wonderful follow up to Elbow's 'Bones Of You'. Platitudes to you Bill.
November 1968... rather different to (and dare I say better than) the 70's CA version

A #1 single in the U.K., it inspired a certain track on side two of Abbey Road.

Nice article - there is mention of his multi-note bends. Here is a nice acoustic version that shows it well.

Mick Fleetwood, it would appear, makes a very scary Pink Flamingo's Divine.
very nice!
bodacious
9  - "Gannet on a Stick"?
I'd love to hear this in a set with Stevie Ray Vaughn's Riviera Paradise, and Santana's Bella.
Yikes!  That album cover almost scared me away, but I just love this song so much.  It brings me closer to God...
B-tribe did a wonderful cover of this classic tune.
