Que bonitos ojos tienes
Debajo de esas dos cejas
Debajo de esas dos cejas
Que bonitos ojos tienes.

Ellos me quieren mirar
Pero si tu no los dejas
Pero si tu no los dejas
Ni siquiera parpadear.

Malaguena salerosa
Besar tus labios quisiera
Besar tus labios quisiera.
Malaguena salerosa
Y decirte niña hermosa.

Que eres linda y hechicera,
Que eres linda y hechicera
Como el candor de una rosa.

Si por pobre me desprecias
Yo te concedo razón
Yo te concedo razón
Si por pobre me desprecias.

Yo no te ofrezco riquezas
Te ofrezco mi corazon
Te ofrezco mi corazon
A cambio de mi pobreza.

Malaguena salerosa
Besar tus labios quisiera
Besar tus labios quisiera.
Malaguena salerosa
Y decirte niña hermosa.

Que eres linda y hechicera,
Que eres linda y hechicera
Como el candor de una rosa.
Y decirte niña hermosa.

@ jtherieau, I wanted to commend you on your post.  Very tactful and informative. I thought I recognized the singers voice. I don't remember the years but several times a year for several years Del Castillo would come and play at a venue in downtown Bryan, Texas. A buddy of mine became good friends with the brothers. We would visit with them during breaks in their shows, very humble and polite guys. They always put on a great show, never disappointed.  I would be in awe watching how fast and accurate they were playing their flamenco style of guitar. I believe they also had a cameo on Sin City. Anyhow, I just wanted to thank you for your post and bringing back some fond memories.
Well, are they badass, awesome or are they annoying?  All translations for chingon.
Extremely fun and engaging take on a Mexican classic ranchera. I love this song in all its different forms, but this one definitely stands up there as one of the greats!
This song is so damn good, you can "feel" what it's saying without knowing Spanish.  I love it!

Thanks for the translation. I was wondering what they were saying. If you sang it in english it would sound terrible I think.
Somehow we need to convince radio paradise to play something of Linda Ronstadt's classic album "songs my father sang"  Because if they play this CERTAINLY they can PLAY Linda.
BTW I gave this song a 6. Its good.
I first heard this as a cover by a Greek artist by the name of George Dalaras on his "Latin" album, many, many years ago. Music is wonderfully regional and terrifically international.
Discovering artists like this is why we stick with RP. Keep it going Bill.

La Malagueña is a classic, traditional song. The title refers to a woman from Malaga. I see on Wiki it's been covered over 200 times. My favorite is a brass band called What Cheer? Brigade.
What beautiful music!

You are free to dislike any music. Commenting that it is because you are American makes it sound a little racist....

This is quite a tough transition from "Lifeboats" - unusual for Bill.

Well put sir. That said after having read comments for a few years around here, there's few a distinct factions around here.

Relevant to your commentary there's the "Lynnrd/Credence/Earle" faction for lack of a better name, who loose their 💩 every time Bill plays any of "awl that there foreign-commie-non-'Murican crap".

Then of course there's the metabolically challenged thankful hippie-dippie types; "Duude, can't we all just get along and listen to the music and happily reminisce about whatever mellow memories it brings up? " - No, dammit. Cause it won't always be lyrical rainbows shooting musical unicorns out their ass, because some artists and/or tunes just pisses us off.

And that brings us to another crowd, those of us who does the occasional drive-by comment which we try to make funny or otherwise enjoyable to read. Yes, we're all flawed people with opinions: I for one would be happy to throw Radiohead, Michael Stipe and David Byrne into a woodchipper to a 230 bpm drum track, but hey I'll settle for the PSD button. 😜

Oh Bill.. is it the xmas wine? Lockdown?... the music?..  you've just made me dance like a crazed goat around the kitchen with them last few songs.. keep up the good work!

They make good music, but the master on this song is still Travis Edmondson.

Too bad some of the leftoids I've known are very much this same ignorant way. Racism of low expectations is perhaps the worst sort.
All those racist police (members of unions) and gov'ts being protested right now? Dem cities run by dems for decades, mostly in Dem run states.
Somehow this is the average Trump voters fault?
Even better, it is all based on lies they are force fed. Twice as many whites are killed by police than blacks, and yet blacks have the larger percentage committing crimes.

A few comments for you and other "Americans" who don't prefer "this kind of music":

1. The founding members of Chignon are Americans. Robert Rodriguez was born in San Antonio, Texas, U.S., attended St. Anthony Catholic High School and University of Texas at Austin. He is also a filmmaker and visual effects supervisor, and is the best friend and a frequent collaborator of filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. Mark and Rick del Castillo were born in Brownsville, Texas, United States. Raised in a family with many musical influences, Mark started learning guitar at age 14, following after his talented older brother Rick del Castillo. For some time Mark studied guitar by himself; then in year 1990 he entered the University of Texas at Brownsville and became a Music Major. There Mark studied Music Theory, Ear Training, and Applied Guitar and played in University Latin/Jazz band. Fellow Brownsville native and the band’s bassist, Albert Besteiro, is himself is a big fan of Los Lobos and Wilco, among others.

2. As you can see by reading the other comments here, there are plenty of us "Americans" who DO prefer this kind of music to most of the formulaic KREP you can find on any Top 40 playlist out there today, which is why we're all here listening to Bill & Rebecca's Excellent Adventure in Music.

3. According to a 2015 report by Instituto Cervantes, the United States has the second highest concentration of Spanish speakers in the world, after Mexico. Roughly 53 million people, 41 million native Spanish speakers, and approximately 11.6 million bilingual Spanish Speakers live in the United States. There are more people speaking Spanish in the U.S. than Spain (47 million speakers) and Colombia (48 million speakers). By 2050, the United States is expected to have 138 million Spanish speakers, making it the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world.

You may want to consider enrolling in a Spanish class.

Great song.  Great version.
Not bad for Tex-Mex music.   :-)

So does the name of the band 'Chingon' have any relationship with the profane word 'chinga' as in Chinga tu madre?

In some places the ending 'on' denotes a homosexual or a man who has had his testicles removed.
Just plane fun!!! Or is that plain fun? My english is no good. LOL
Peppy tune. Alas, I heard the version by The Tubes long before this one. I like both.

Oh my gosh. Are you kidding? What is 'American?' Does this mean that you only like the music of Native Americans? Or those of your grandparents? I can understand if you don't like this (I love it, but we all have our different tastes in music), but I do kind of object to what I think you were saying in your comment. Sorry.

A México se parece
en tanta droga que esconde
solo que hay un capo gringo,
