We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barrier, planting seed
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the mantra, peace on Earth
We all been playing those mind games forever
Some kinda druid dude lifting the veil
Doing the mind guerrilla
Some call it magic, the search for the grail

Love is the answer
And you know that for sure
Love is a flower
You got to let it, you got to let it grow

So keep on playing those mind games together
Faith in the future, out of the now
You just can't beat on those mind guerrillas
Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind
Yeah, we're playing those mind games forever
Projecting our images in space and in time

Yes is the answer
And you know that for sure
Yes is surrender
You got to let it, you got to let it go

So keep on playing those mind games together
Doing the ritual dance in the sun
Millions of mind guerrillas
Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel
Keep on playing those mind games forever
Raising the spirit of peace and love

Love
I want you to make love, not war
I know you've heard it before

Nice! A double dose of Lennon. This came right after “Remember”.
I still miss him.  His beautiful music was just that - beautiful.
"Yes is the answer, and you know that for sure.  Yes is surrender, you've got to let it go"

Daily self-affirmations.  Such simple prescriptions for a lifetime of happiness and the good will that love brings.

And what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

He offered solutions to big problems. Granted, his solutions seemed pretty unorthodox at the time, but now, I wonder how much of "Give peace a chance" could actually be what saves the world from itself?  I miss his optimism and his snarky-but-dead-on humor.

This.
10, next
This just beats up on my ears.
Started listening to The Beatles after John was shot. I was 11 and a half. When The John Lennon Collection came out in 82 I got it on cassette for Chanukah.  I played the hell out of that cassette for the next 5 years. I might never have encountered this later Lennon stuff without it.

This song is me, aged 14, lying in bed, singing myself to sleep.

Yes is the answer.

You gotta let it go.

..you know that, for sho'..

The beginning of this tune starts out similarly to 'Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum. I'm so glad it's this and not that!!!

Well, it's a lot better than I could ever do.  Still, it looks like the triploid love child of Lennon, Peter Townshend and Ringo.
Like the rating I gave this song describes, it is simply outstanding!! {#Angel}

I know what you mean, but it's easy to make such a broad assumption.  I don't personally find "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", "Run For Your Life", "Bungalo Bill", or "Love Me Do" (as random examples) to be better than this song.

I agree...there were a couple of good one's on "Walls and Bridges" not up to the Beatles standard though, he needed the other three (even Ringo)

I never really paid much attention to this song before. I think maybe I should have; it's really very good.

I rated this lower because when I was just listening to it, it seemed that for John (my favorite Beatle) this was just a commercial song — sell a few records, pay a few bills.  I didn't think tha tthere was sincere emotion behind the words.  But he still gets a 9 on almost all other songs.

(about Mind Games)

and because is Christmas....

"Merry Xmas Everybody" is a single released  in December 1973 by the english glam rock Band "Slade" and recorded in New York in mid 1973, in an adjoining studio, where John Lennon was working on his album Mind Games;  Slade and manager/producer Chas Chandler experimented some dificultyes in this theme, and John Lennon give help, turned up with a harmonium he was about to use in the studio next door;  "Merry Xmas Everybody" probably one of best obtained and famous songs of Christmas, probably.....

note: i have this song enclosed in a Compilation of the Band "Slade" and i would like to hear this song here in RP Station, but i am not very made familiar to the correct procedures of uploads, if somebody will be interested and can give an aid... ty;

this is my contribution to celebrate the Christmas here in RP Station!

"Merry Xmas Everybody" - ** 7 / 8 **

If it's a luntic, what makes you think marines with heavy equipment stops anything? All they do is kill civilians. Great. Hey - the very same people the so-called lunatics kill.... ...hmm. Makes you wonder, just what qualifies Sadaam as a lunatic but an american politician as a hero? Get real, we aren't over there for some grandiose white knight cause - we're there because our president is one of the main stock holders in the biggest war machines in the world, which happens to be at the helm of the Iraqi war. Oh wait, he's not a stock holder - he signed it over to Daddy, that's right. From whom he stands to inherit. So it Cheney and Rumsfeld, fyi. They're all lunatics and they're playing tools like you the whole way to the bank.

I've often thought of the similarities in the two tunes. But cannot equate them in quality. John wins that one hands down.
The Lips tune is replicative fading on this one, which wasn't great to begin with. Next ...

Actually what he sang was: I want you to make love, not war I know You've heard it before ... But you really have to listen for it, and it does get cut a lot of the time.

I was going to mention the transition... That was great. I was sitting there thinking what a blatant rip-off of Mind Games that Flaming Lips song was.
The seamless transition from Flaming Lips-Do You Realize? to this song just blew my mind. Nice Bill

Perfect, Bill.
Do you remember..the 5th of November?
I read somewhere that the lyric could have been 'Make love, not war' But Lennon only sang this line in the run out groove, and sang 'Mind games together/forever' instead. I think the song would be heard a lot more if he had used the anti-war message; well it would be heard a lot more in countries that oppose war, anyway.
