Every time I think of you
I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue
It's no problem of mine but it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
There's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of a fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
While every day my confusion grows

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

I feel fine and I feel good
I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way, I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday?
I'm not sure what this could mean
I don't think you're what you seem
I do admit to myself
That if I hurt someone else
Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

I don't like the term "hater" just because I HATE THIS HORRIBLE SONG! Never liked it then and will never like it ever. Just not my cup of tea, okay? I hate it... ooops, I mean I RATE it a one.
wait a minute, this is some kinda crazy dance mix. original, please!
oh man.
Time machine back to seeing them live in 1988.
Seriously amazing.
I would rate this song a lot higher if it's weren't the long club mix version.
66 sucko-barfo votes??  no f-ing way!  {#Surprised}  some hater is finding a way to vote more than once.

- Criminy, Doris, are we still on Planet RP?
- Sure are, Boris, just kick back and enjoy.
- Thank Bill for that, I thought we'd crossed over to the Dark Side.
- No, dear, CC don't play surprising stuff like this.

Makes me want to hear "Frente"!!!

Its amazing how bad this is, gave it a 1. However I love the Frente version and gave it a 9 or 10. Hard to believe its even the same song they do it so differently.

I never thought they'd stoop so low as to play disco crap on RP. Definately sounds more disco than punk...way more..

Really.  This hasn't aged well at all, has it?  I remember liking this song at the time but can't imagine why right now ... {#Rolleyes}
Ugh, Pink Bubble Gum and Hello Kitty!

I didn't bother to enlighten them ;)

Yeah, we hate the Beatles and the Rolling stones too, and don't even get me started on Depeche Mode, or Foghat or XTC, The The, UB40.... These bands will never be popular here

Did you really think that out before posting it? Hell, we even had a period called "the Brittish Invasion".

Bill, please follow this with some Wang Chung for these two.
This has to be the absolute worse thing I've heard on RP.  Thank God such crap is so rare on RP

Right on greyfin10 - but it still gets a 1.  (And please excuse me for any offensive Canadian acts - you can probably guess who I mean {#Yes})

like so much from this period, this just doesn't hold up at all.  Dated, stale, dreck.  Sigh.  Please kill the 80s.
One of my all-time favorite dance songs - as others have said, 9 for the memories!
fun at the time but now can we all spell D-A-T-E-D?

While you often won't get an argument from me in regards to how parochial American attitudes are, you WILL get an argument from me if you imply this is a unique problem that "just the Yanks" have.  It seems I've seen very similar accusations levelled at our friends and allies in the UK... and France... and... hmm, most everywhere else in the world.  Humans are tribal... for eons this has been a social strategy that gave us advantages.  However, like alot of "evolutionary" traits, its value has become increasingly vestigial over time.  Racism is the most extreme example of this.

It appears you are correct that Joy Division and New Order aren't as popular in this country as they are/were in the UK.  This could be for many reasons, not the least of which could be distribution and general lack of exposure in the US (not being an expert in this area, I wouldn't know.  It does make sense though).  I don't think it is an Anti-UK bias, or US protectionism for our artists etc.  Not even close.  Ask anybody of my era at least who their favorite artists are and I bet you'll see at least 50% came from the UK.  And all things considered, I'd say that indicates a significant Anglophile rather than Anglophobe presense.  At least in musical tastes.

So no... I don't buy your argument even a little bit.  As far as the ignoramuses you mention below... shall we share our "embarrassing English" group stories?  Again... we all have idiots we aren't proud of.  Statistically, every x/100 people is a rube I'd rather lock in a closet when guests come over... unfortunately the authorities rather frown on that sort of behavior.

To make a long story short, I take issue with your premise.

Great song. But this version is far better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ1c9ErCn7w

Yeah, my life would be OK from here on out, if I never heard this again.

Tu vas chico!

If listening to this song over & over again for 14 hours straight meant i never had to listen to that Norah Jones song ever again i'd do it.
Not into the remix, but great song.
8 — just because it brings me back to clubbing in the 80's and all the good memories of those times.

That is a lame peace of music you're playing here, Bill...

But hey, it's a matter of taste, right? So I guess I'm happy for you guys who like that thing. ;)
I should hate this song ... I guess .. but oh what fun we had dancing to this in the clubs back in the 80's. Strobe lights, and all that rave stuff. Oh man. My second or 3rd childhood. FWIW. 10 for the memories.
Sounds like retro disco and I hate disco.

I second that. And while Bizarre Love Triangles could be fun, this song {#Puke}=1....I wish I could give it negative #s.

Love this Extended Dance Mix

This has got to be one of the worst songs ever recorded.
Happy cheese! Happy cheese!

(Although, is this the extended dance remix or something?)

Represents everything disgusting about 80's music.

Probably the first time in my RP history that I had to change the channel. Ultimate crap, sorry.

Hard to separate this on the merits from how overplayed it has been, is, and may always be?

Maybe play the cover by Frente instead?
Starts like real fun, get old quickly.
Where is the -10 rating when you need it....this may be the worst song ever on RP.
Happy light mindless...perfect for today. Thanks Bill!
Give it to NASA for their next "contact the aliens" project and we will be safe for billions of years.
This is my favorite song ever! As a young teenager I was bewildered by the lyrics and mesmerized by the synths, to me, it was the music of the future. I used to listen to the entire Substance album and dance around my parents lounge room. A happy memory :)

This does take me back...to a student flat where this played a lot, people got pissed and I read a copy of 'Hells Angels' by Hunter Thompson but an Alsation dog had had diarrhoea and had sat on it at some point - being a student was just the best
Why? What did we do to deserve this?
Alwyas takes me back. Such a great feel good song.

Yeah I was a teen back then too... I thought it was crap then and I think it is crap now. I'm not all about Dylan or country music, I like a vairety of sounds including electronica... but I still think this is crap. Electronica can still have some soul, this has nothing for me.

Love it - 9 You lot moaning need to put this song and much of New Order in context. They were pioneers in terms of bringing electronic dance music to the masses and are often quote as an inspiration to many of the dance/electronica oriented acts of today. Of course some of you will still sneer, but I guess you can't have Bob Dylan and country music all of the time

I guess it just depends on when you grew up with this one...... I was a teenager at the time and have loads of memories associated with this song so it's good to hear it... ...but were it not for that I'd probably think it crap.
Everything that sucked about the 80s encapsulated in one song.
So very, delightfully '80s. I do have to chuckle and enjoy the synth every once and a while :o).
MUTE!
It was crap the first time around and it is still crap. Please take it off the list, Bill.
fun song- thanks Bill

Such a touching memory. 450SL? I lived and tried to make a living in the 80's days of Reaganomics and I remember eating a lot of macaroni and cheese because that's all we could afford so forgive me if I can't relate to your sweet, east coast, upper crust sentimental journey.
The Frente! version sounded so natural I had no idea it was a cover. When I hear things like this, I lose the ability to think of anything good that came out of the 80s.
damn this song still jams after all these years....

and more worthless when not programmed by a drummer! FYI, I saw New Order at the Metro in Chicago on the Power Corruption and Lies tour. Not too deep into their set, an attack by the ghosts in the machines wiped out the drum programs. Instead of freaking out and walking offstage, Steve simply kicked into live drums and played a very inspired set, which included some classic joy division songs.

Maybe it was a real old, dilapidated 450SL.
Oh my ....! Suckobarfo
Interesting. We just heard the Frente version of this earlier today. I definitely like the Frente version better, but this one's okay too. It's probably just that I heard and like the Frente version before I was ever familiar with this one.

Really does show how much you could get out of one those little Sinclair handheld keyboards. Aren't drum machines rubbish.
NO NO NO!!!! Just terrible Bill throw this out
Typical 80's pop crap. Belongs on VH1 Classics with all the rest of that swill.

She's not kidding - her list of 1's is a primer of good music...I hear the local 80's station calling you!! (edit) MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Order wrote some very very good songs ... this is NOT one of them - it's truly painful to listen to. Is this Bill's idea of a joke?
THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (It doesn't even qualify for the "camp" category, it's so bad. Unless it's your goal to remind us every once in awhile what life would be like if we only had Clear Channel, and no RP anywhere.)
I was so confused, thought for a moment I was on Club 977 - The 80's Channel. ;)
Hands down the best thing that came out of 1987.
