I recall a time when we were lovers
Before you, I hadn't any other
when the bad times came along
I turned and you had gone
From the start, I loved you, I was wrong
Falling out, it's the end.
May as well have never been
The cards are up, the chips are all cashed in
You won't see me again,
Don't consider me your friend
Falling out, look away, it's the end
Always thought of you as my big brother
Never knew we couldn't trust eachother
Two faces I could see
As you shook my money tree
There's no more you and me
Let it be
Falling out, It's the end
And I lose another friend
The cards are up, the chips are all cashed in
You won't see me again
Don't consider me your friend
Falling out, look away, it's the end.

More likely an exchange between former lovers. Could be gay but that's not my read although it could be interpreted that way.

I like this song, but my favourite song of ween is "Waving my dick in the wind". Rebecca and Bill, please play that!

I seriously doubt that P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri made very much money from the original release back in 1966. Highly likely that Imperial (label) made 95% of the profit off of it.

I hear Paul Heaton (The Housemartins & The Beautiful South) very strongly in that voice, but given the difference in music & geography I'm clearly a long way out

That's one way of looking at it - the song could also be directed at two different people; a woman and a man

not a bad song.
Love Ween, not crazy bout this one though.
Very nice.
I just saw them a couple months ago in Sayerville NJ - awesome show - they did LET'S DANCE and nailed the fuck out of it!
also did Stroker Ace it was alright - lotsa fun great show

Mean ,,,yes !
WEEN!! I wonder if these guys will ever get recognized for their clever lyrics and compositions. Even though alot of their music has easily recognized influences, they do an incredible job of making it their own. And then again, some of their stuff is just bizarre. They have a huge catalog of songs and so much of it is great. Where's the props?
ween is great! amazing musicians first and foremost

Hey, 4 years after your comment it is still up and working. Very interesting.Love WEEN! Love WHITE PEPPER!!! LOVE BANANAS AND BLOW!!!!!!!!
Why do I not own any Ween?
Truly awesome talent . . . amazing staying power . . . these guys are tops, and delightfully twisted, too!

Ice Castles
The Grobe
Are all RP'able.
Stroker Ace - might be... probably too fast of a rocker though. i just mention it cuz its one of my favorite ween songs... especially when they do it live! And Gener pulls out the Bullhorn...
More Ween!

You still don't. Ween is the most chameleonic 6 or 7 bands I've ever heard. :)
Some further examples would be "Dr. Rock," "Banannas and Blow," "Ice castles," and "God In my Bed."
-PL-
Hmm. This is Ween? I can see how someone might think it sounds like Sir Paul. Plus it's got that trite skiffle sound to it.
actually thought it was Paul McCartney singing this song at first
This is awesome! I didn't think this was what Ween sounded like

You know I really haven't liked Ween much in the past, but this song is really good!!
I may have to re-evaluate my opinion about this band.

I think they got typecast a little with the success of "Waving My Dick in the Wind" and before that :"Pushing Little Daisies". Those songs would be the most famous (in the broader sense) Ween songs got a fair bit of play on radio when they were released and so nowdays when the name Ween is thrown about, those songs come to mind.
And so it makes it difficult when presented with a song as diverse as this to comprehend - this is the same band.

this is indeed a great song, as is most Ween
what is amusing is how convincing they are, any genre they pick up (of which there are dozens), they seem to fit right in, the whole time making fun of whatever they sound like. It's not imitation, it's mocking. But a friendly, respectful mocking. If you can understand that.
PLAY MORE BIZARRE WEEN SONGS!!!
Couldn't agree more. This reminds me of my dear dead friend, Eric, who forced ween upon me. A lot of people seem to think of them as a "novelty act", but there's much more.
Please play "the Argus" off the new album.
Cool song. The lyrics "speak to me" at this time...you know who you are...I dedicate this song to you ! ;)
That\'s more like it!
Ween fits \"eclectic intelligent Rock\" perfectly. nice one.
No more Knopfler PLEASE! no more, for the love of God.

These guys have come a long way since Pure Guava. This is a great song. Cheers to Geaner and Deaner!
DEANER! GENER! These guys are amaaaaaazing live... saw them this year and in 2000 here in Vancouver. Without qualification the best shows I have ever seen.
I am constantly amazed by the range of Ween's music. Seems they cover more territory in each album than a lot of bands do in a career... and they've done harsh pseudo industrial and sea shanteys and c&w and rock & roll and... and... and.....
Praised be th'Boognish!
Wow, this is Ween? They never cease to amaze me...
fun
