And my mind going from hot to cool
And trying to conform to others ideas
And someone else's rules
The life I'm living ain't mine
I'm supposed to feel that's fine
I didn't make the world I'm living in
And I ain't gonna toe the line
I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be
You know some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same
And I'm not going to try to please
Eyes that just don't see
If I get myself together
You'll have the blues not me
I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be

A touch of Jimmy?
A touch of AWESOME!!!
Saw them Christmastime 1970 in Cherry Hill, NJ
Allman Bros opened, then Savoy Brown with Van Morrison as the headliner.
After the first two, Morrison was kind of a let down. Still an awesome show.

LOVE THE OLD STUFF! Don't get me wrong, I love the new stuff, too ... but good music from the 60s and 70s ... is STILL GOOD MUSIC!

Yes - At the Grande Ballroom.
A touch of Jimmy?
A touch of Savoy Brown.
"Wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same?" - amen to that! Sadly, there are strong social, political, economic and institutional pressures which are steadily forcing us into increasingly restrictive roles and personalities. (As a for instance, travelling around in a caravan or campervan looking for work, or for the sheer travelling hell of it, has now become a suspicious activity inviting cop harrassment.) It suits governments and corporations to homogenise us, to make for easier management and consumption. It's up to us to fight back against that homogenisation and to reassert our natural variety and individuality. Vive les différences!
Hunh...given the polarization of the world into the lefts and rights and the lack of willingness to compromise that has occurred since you wrote this...well, sad that we continue to be hearded into "camps" and have our natural inclinations be reinforced by our own echo chambers (facebot, I'm looking at you). It's okay to be different folks...we can still be friends.
NICE!!
Early Bowie, Whiter Shade of Pale, and maybe Days of Future Passed (?)
a very big touch!

It's only pronounced "Wistah", unless you are from out of state. And the state U is in Amherst, further west.
I believe that Proclivities is also correct about there being a UMass campus in Worcester - the medical school, if memory serves. It is true that the main campus is in Amherst however.
I think he meant Worcester, which is pronounced more like "Wooster" (or sometimes "Wistah"). There is a State University in Worcester, Mass.

Are you certain it was spelled "Wooster" and was in Mass? Maybe pronounced that way, but unless you mixed up Ohio and Massachusetts, I think a detail may be off!

I don't always agree with you, Fred, but you're right on this.
Oh, wait, different tune and band.
LoveIt.
After the bars on that sax, I expect to hear

Hmmm. Not so much.
Also reminded me a lot of Finley Quaye's "Sunday Shining" (funny — Finley was born in 1974)
Well, it's a pretty standard, R&B chord progression.
I feel your pain... When did we all become so respectable and stodgy? Maybe we need a blast of Savoy Brown to bring out the fun-child in us... This is a good song. Thanks to whoever uploaded it for review, and thanks to Bill and Rebecca for bringing it on!
A touch of Jimmy?
Just a. Touch?!
