I really like RP when it gets on a happy streak.
Love that voice! It's like somebody pouring warm butterscotch in your ear canal. And yes, that's a metaphor... probably

Love this... been listening for years.  Introduced to them by an amazing person.
never heard of these guys until I heard them on radio paradise, went out and bought the CD and it is a good one.
"Policeman
Keep on chasing the wrong guy" a tip to Bowie?
Also we lost the World caring.
Anyone ever want Lescheeba?
Rwwawwarrr!! Gettin ma' groove on here!
Taking two of these {#Chillpill}{#Chillpill} - don't bother calling me in the morning :)

I know why I loathe hip hop and rap.  The social headspace reminds me of the sub-cultures that supported totalitarian fascism in the early and mid-20th century. That and most of the music sucks.

Yeah, I don't get it either.  I agree that hip hop and rap by and large really suck though.

This is sooo groovy - Sneaker Pimpsish!

On all music guide they break it down pretty well for you here, with a history of the genre, pioneering artists, etc.  And at the bottom of the page they list out who they feel are the Top Artists, Top Albums & Top Songs (though some of their choices I would not agree fall into the Trip Hop genre).  My recommendations are:  Massive Attack, Portishead, Morcheeba and Thievery Corporation.  The K & D Sessions (by dj's Kruder & Dorfmeister) is definitely a seminal work not to be missed.  Waldeck is a great band/artist that really captures the sound well too.

Intersting concept: this Trip Hop you speak of.  I'm not sure

"...smoother than mercury on ice..." — I love that turn of phrase.  Just love it.  It's a great description of this tune.

check out some of the artists mentioned in that article.

top 40 commercial hip hop sucks worse than top 40 commercial rock.

but that is no reason to throw the baby out.

Excellent!  I don't know this song from Morcheeba!

I've always heard Morcheeba described more as "Down-Tempo" or "Lounge/Exotica".  I guess they're all just arbitrary labels anyhow.  It's good music no matter what it's labeled as.

Love, love, love this song...and Morcheeba in general.

The vocalist, (in this song )sounds quite a bit like Sneaker Pimps former female vocalist...to me anyways.
Sounds like there's a cup a Alban added to this mix, ne?

BTW, Skye already released a solo album in 2006 with a new one in production, go check it out.

Until I heard this cut I had considered Morcheeba to be a nÃŒjazz group. Now I don't know what I'd call them . . . . But I really like this song anyway!
This is my first time every hearing this song. About two words into it, and I am seduced by her voice.

great! I only knew "The Sea" so far....and that from RP too...

To hear her tell it, she was sacked. If true, what a mistake by the Godfrey brothers...

Hip hop should be used very, very loosely in Morcheeba's case. If you want good hip hop, look no further than Mos Def's "Black on Both Sides." But calling Morcheeba hip hop is like calling Smashing Pumpkins a goth band. ...as in, it's a stretch. As for this song, it's a winner. 8/10

I hear A John Cipollina (Quicksilver Messenger Service) guitar sound.
Again Morcheeba as it's best
Unquestionably the best I've heard from Morcheeba.
completely hooked less than 5 seconds into the tune, didn't recognize it as one i knew til 15 seconds in. that's craftsmanship!
Ok, who can help me write an explaination for my boss in order to excuse the fact that I'll miss the deadline for my work today...? No chance to concentrate on programming when my ears travel around all the time, thanks to RP.^^ Morcheeba is always godlike.

Probably a few months late, but the song you're thinking of is six underground by the sneaker pimps ( another good example of trip-hop.)

In my opinion, Skye can't be replaced. Love there music.
i could do without the irrelevant 'bedoodooooobedoo' part, for sure, but the rest is all good. & uh portishead is the apple to this orange. & massive attack is the pear.
Does anyone know who is the lead singer now? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morcheeba
SKYE! WHY oh WHY did you leave Morcheeba? I saw them a few years ago in Boston, it was an absolutely magical night. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
Just recently discovered them and they have become my favorites!.....I cannot believe that they have replaced this lead singer. Love that slow move to it groove
Why do I like her voice so much? She could be singing about absolutely anything and I would listen and enjoy :)
I saw them live at Barcelona, I think maybe two years ago, and really enjoyed. This Skye has a power!
a 10 :)

I think they're quite different. as proof, I hate Portishead. :-) I think Massive Attack is better music than Morcheeba or Portishead, though it's usually too dark for me to want to listen to much. this is a nice track, though.
ScottyB wrote:

Portishead is moody, slightly depressing, and makes for amazingly good sex music. It's Bristol, through and through. Morcheeba is downtempo triphop. To contrast, it's more upbeat, cheerier, and makes for amazingly good lazy summertime music. Same genre? Hardly.
This is a very good song - the CD, however, appears to be roundly hated by most reviewers on Amazon, which is unusual. I prefer Big Calm, myself....
i've never heard this before, but i like it
ScottyB wrote:

Disagree. I like Portishead and Morcheeba. Although I understand how some similarities can be drawn, I think the "feel" and "mood" of their music is quite different. So I don't think a fair comparison can be made.
Portishead is a vastly better alternative within this genre.
Morcheeba is so great ! Has anybody heard their new record \"Charango\" ? It`s the best they ever made ! Someone should upload some songs...
Fine one! Morcheeba really is a great band between soul, funk, pop, rock and trip hop... - much better than all the typical ugly commercial bands from the charts... This song is only one of many from now four albums - so get them all!
I like the feel..Im sliding into bliss.....
nice sound - it works and i like it but definitely has a techno/synthesized feel to it. i wouldn\'t compare it to virtuosos like Clapton etc.
