What kind of person is victimized by a song repeating on a free music streaming service?

I recall in Vancouver the late night DJ slipped out to the washroom (or whatever) and came back with the song (stairway to heaven was the go to the can song back in the day) skipping for 5 minutes in the opening bars of the song.

Shit happens... and must be dealt with haha ;-)

I first heard about them on NPR ( many, many years ago), and bought the CD.

No doubt! Even though, according to the post, it isn't even words, as much as just vocalizations, it still has a catchy cool beat and, it just plain ole, sounds really good! I actually went from 8>9! Would love to have Bill & co. actually put another track of theirs into the rotation, just to hear what else they do!

I remember that! I was out on a long peddle with the intention quieting my inner squirrel long enough to meditate.  60-odd KMs later, between the beautiful, hypnotic melody and hum of the tires, I eventually got to where I needed to be.
The playlist, as random as it seems, always meets me where, and, has gotten me through some darker days.
My wife and I have a great appreciation for the amazing service you and the missus put out. The grandkids do as well 😃

Here's the deal:  back in December 2018 we had an overnight server glitch that caused this song to be repeated for several hours. That generated a LOT of postings, both in our forum & in the song comments.

We addressed the issue in our forum -- and those posts remain up. However, song comments are intended for discussions about the songs & artists, not repetitive complaints about a server glitch that -- by the time most people read the comments -- is long gone & forgotten.

So rather than subject everyone who looks here for the expected content -- a discussion of the song -- to something entirely unrelated & (to them) irrelevant, we deleted all of those posts.

Hope that makes sense to you.

The Ekova entry on Wikipedia needs to mention Dec 4, 2018: The day RP glitched.

I have to disagree with BillG.... We shall never forget!
I like the sentiments expressed here!
Interesting- which is always a positive, imo.

Good lord, this is terrible.  And it’s an especially jarring and unpleasant  segue from a beautiful piece by Elbow.
I wonder if the server glitch situation from December 2018 had an impact on the rating for this tune?

For a song to go on repeat over several hours, this one was a doozy! I mean, had it been Phish or The Grateful Dead, it might have been days before anyone noticed.

I love both Phish and the Dead but boy I laughed out loud...

Seems like the ratings for this tune suffered of that glitch as well.

Oh well, my parents were blown away by Shpongle in the early 00's, and when I gave them this album they rocked out too...

Easy 9 from yo boy
LOL, It's not fair that this has a 5.something rating.
Talk about a song to get stuck in your head...more or less...
Just getting back to being able to listen to this song again.

I remember "The Day RP Glitched" well.
Recognizable among 1M.

Too Funny! ....after 10 minutes of this, I would have turned on my Grundig shortwave radio & try to find Papua New Guinea! ...they play a lot of music that sounds like reggae!

I wonder how long it would've taken me to notice... or care. I'm sure I'd go half an hour before noticing if I were at work etc. and another hour before I felt like changing things up.

Yep, I was there, & lived to tell the tale. It drove me past insanity into a realm of sublime omniscience. No other song would have worked. And it was much cheaper than drugs.

Thanks for putting this post up Bill though. I remember I was at work and it was just bizarre, like something magic was going to happen after the n-th play :)
It was also funny that we'd be chatting across continents, on different time zones, to discuss what was going on.

Well, I wasn't listening when the glitch happened.  However, this song was captivating to me, so I ordered it used from Amazon for $1.58.  So many interesting  sounds.  Love it.
The events of December 2018 have left me traumatized. Please play this as seldom as possible.

All hail to Siip Siie, think I only needed 100 more repeatings to fully become familiar with the lyrics ;-)

So you listened to 100 consecutive plays of this and decided to lower your rating?  Or you think others did so?

Last time this song was on, it played on repeat for some hours... It's still groovable, though

Hey Lazarus where are you?  I was just imagining myself and friends dancing naked to this song on top of a holy mountain...

...then taking selfie photos of ourselves...

... then sharing on social media...

.... then getting arrested by the authorities for defiling and disrespecting a religion and a nation...

...... then the diplomatic counsel intervenes...

........ then we all apologise profusely and say we did not realise the mountain was holy...

......... then we all slink home with out tails between our legs...

Ah yes that was a great holiday!
Gosh, I so loooove this tune!!
The only good thing here are the wallpapers... 1
Their tune "Starlight in Daden" is SO good. This one sounds quite poor...
I'm diggin' the energy.  It's helping me write reports.  {#Jump}

Actually, the previous person was correct.  The track that was played was "The Hop" by Radio Citizen
Not feeling it.  Maybe in a dance club with some enhancements.

If I said, 'not good' it would be an understatement.

Right on. I love this group and haven't heard them for years. Cocteau Twins meets DJ remixing. Heaven's Dust is an even stronger album from them.

Lisa Gerrard did the same thing in her Dead Can Dance days, used her voice purely as an instrument. Used to drive me bonkers trying to figure out the language she was using until I twigged. This number is real toe-tapping fun, and indeed "rumbunctious" as someone else wrote. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

I find this to be very compelling. I hear her singing "oh momma in September you can take a leap..." Maybe it's just me and brain full of mondegreens, but I still like this track.
