We're sailing on a strange boat
Heading for a strange shore
We're sailing on a strange boat
Heading for a strange shore
Carrying the strangest cargo
That was ever hauled aboard
We're sailing on a strange sea
Blown by a strange wind
We're sailing on a strange sea
Blown by a strange wind
Carrying the strangest crew
That ever sinned
We're riding in a strange car
We're followin' a strange star
We're climbing on the strangest ladder
That was ever there to climb
We're living in a strange time
Working for a strange goal
We're living in a strange time
Working for a strange goal
We're turning flesh and body
Into soul
Heading for a strange shore
We're sailing on a strange boat
Heading for a strange shore
Carrying the strangest cargo
That was ever hauled aboard
We're sailing on a strange sea
Blown by a strange wind
We're sailing on a strange sea

nothing has touched me as much as the water boys gives me goosebumps
Saw them in D.C. at D.A.R. Constitution Hall for this tour. What a gem of a show. Mr. Scott is a genius songwriter. And his band was amazing. Thistlethwaite and Wickham pretty much stole the show. Stupendous!
I am listening to a strange… song
Timeless song writing...this album has stood strong in the 30+ years since its release...that sort of ability to create something that clearly lives in its own timeline is truly impressive to me....
35 years old and a great song
As much as I love listening to music here at Radio Paradise, hearing this has sparked the desire to hear the whole recording. Be back soon!
Mike Scott is an incredibly interesting man - he wrote a great bio!
this album carried me thru my one pregnancy . . .

Not a big fan of Waterboys but this could be another verse longer.

Yes, we are in the midst of very strange days.

What an album!
a friend gifted me this cassette that was given to him in an irish pub in Atlanta on St Paddy's Day circa '88.....I've considered it one of my favorite albums ever since :-)
wish to god Mike Scott would find his mojo again, he wrote some great songs

This is not one of the best songs on an absolutely amazing album. Still, nice to hear.
All for lack of a thesaurus....

I would like to hear what the Boss and the Big Man would do with this song. I think it's perfectly suited to their style.

Agreed. I caught them live in a marquee on Highbury Fields in London in the early 90s. Rained like no tomorrow and we were sloshing around in mud but just vibing to the unique sound of Mike Scott and his Waterboys. Nice memory.
Saw them live many years ago in a small venue in Toronto, they were fantastic...gorgeous fiddle player, always loved their unique sound. Fishermans blues was the hit that made me a fan but they have quite a breadth of great material to play for 2 hours.

Go offshore, come back, and then we'll talk. :)
