When I'm out walking
I strut my stuff
And I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on like I
Blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands, I know you're the one
Body and beats,
I stain my sheets
I don't even know why
My girlfriend, she's at the end,
She is starting to cry
Let me go on like I
Blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands, I know you're the one
When I'm out walking

JUST AS SHITTY AS IT WAS "BACK IN THE DAY"
Ending credits for Grosse Pointe Blank!
I need to walk down the street to the beat of this song.
I was eighteen and bought me an accoustic bass after listening this album!
Tried to write some kinda Gano songs. Failed
Brian Ritchie rules ok.
I Love these songs for ever and ever.

Teen angst at its best.
I have such fond memories of VF, especially this song, my dad use to play and we would all give our best moves while dancing in the living room.
I know you're the one!
I'd been bopping about to this and other VF vlassics for DECADES when I read or heard a comment to the effect of "greatest acoustic punk band ever" and I had to pause and ask "waitasecond... *acoustic*?!" as in all the cranked to 11 dancefloor bopping I had never noticed.
So simple and sooooo Great!

saw them open for the Dead as a surprise, I had no idea wuthuhell...............

One reason to stream RP is to avoid this one. Until now, that is.
For 28 years, I couldn't get the phrase "Big hands I know you're the one..." out of my head. I still can't. Help.

Nope - I was going through a messy divorce, on the verge of losing my house, and working full-time. Sorry if I missed the whimsy of this song. Might have to give it another listen. (If I don't post again, you'll know I cut off my own head.)

This album came out many years before I was even in high school. Students in the early 90s of course prided themselves by listening to Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Pink Floyd, etc. Somehow we got into this album 10 years after its release. Lot's of memories! Instant 10, but I agree, "Add it Up" is their best.

Wow, can't believe the amount of hate this song gets... I guess it's not for everyone. 10 for me, love the Femmes. It would be nice to hear Add It Up next...

Yeah, Purdue has a pretty sh*tty rep as far as a college party town. A friend of mine hitch-hiked from Murray State to Lafayette to see the Cars. He said the show was fantastic, but the crowd was a real buzz-kill.
SIU, huh? Did you ever see a band called "The Hip Chemists" from this era? I always wondered what happened to them.

I suspect this song was a nationwide phenomenon at least in college towns back then.

We used to go crazy and dance in other people's living rooms when this came on. Wherever you were, if it came on, gauranteed every body would drop what they were doing and start to dance to it, because it was sort of agreed to in my circle of friends that this song was required spontanious dancing material.
Seems weird now. But um, back then there was nothing like it. It sort of was the first punk acoustic tune, so it kind of started a whole genre and sound people take for granted now and go so what?
And, best of all, it made everybody feel like having sex.
So we loved it.

Just horrible -
Nasty little group. Nasty little song.
So, just tonight I posted a negative comment on The Ramones, because, well, punk sucks. But then, isn't this "punk," too? I've always rather liked this song. Maybe it's just The Ramones that suck? I'm so confused!

This song impresses me just as much at 35 as it did at 15.
One of the more polarizing songs on RP. I like it!

You see that's funny, I feel exactly the opposite. This song is exactly why Radio Paradise gets my support. I live in fear that it will never come on again. Really, you need to get some perspective if one song can - even potentially - put you off a great radio station.

Interesting question. However I doubt 99.9% of chicks really do like it. I like it cause it's got such a toe-tapping, danceable beat, is slightly subversive, and reminds me of my college years. Although I admit the last reason isn't really a valid answer to your question as I liked it when I was in college and of course at the time it didn't remind me of my college years.
