Twenty odd years old this and still sounds pretty fresh to me. One of my favourite albums.

I appreciate this group so much. Enjoying this piece is like experiencing a medium-paced vacation through a myriad of hills and valleys, both geographic and emotional.

I want to give this song a higher rating, but parts of it sound like listening to a feedback loop.
Well. It's definitely not quite like anything else. Kinda works like that really hot and sour taste you just need once and awhile.
In the same space, musically and politically, as Thievery Corporation. ¡Viva la revolución! :)
Cool memories tied to this one...first times I was exposed to this amazing group and music were at Trocadero, a trippy little authentic French bistro, in hip, groovy ShimoKitaZawa, Tokyo — an unbelievably narrow 3-story + summer rooftop 100yr old Time Machine assembled crate by crate from Paris — and the staff were French and Quebecois, and Le Fin du Monde was house brew...
PSD is working great – it brought me here :-)

I really like this one. Has the nice groove. Kinda sounds like an excellent soundtrack to a porno movie.

I keep looking to pick up my cell phone. That background noise beat sounds like my phone when it's on vibrate!!

fredriley: Peronismo had a strong re-distributive element to it. But yes, it would be more accurate to characterize the movement as populist than left-wing.
Nice one! A bit to long!!
Peron was left-wing in that he nationalized industries. The real problem though transcends cold war labels - Peron and Kirchner were/are both kleptocrats.

Peronista "left-wing"? I'm no expert on Argentina, but my impression of Peronism was of a type of populist nationalism, shading into neo-fascism. I never thought of it as left-wing, and I dare say the leftists locked up by Peron's regime didn't either.
The first post quoted is interesting, and pleasing to me that even with my pidgin Spanish I can understand it :o)
Nice number, this, very Thievery Corporation (or maybe TC was influenced by the Gotan Project). Nice use of samples. 7 from the Nottingham jury.

I never noticed the distant train horn before. Nice touch.

Ya entiendo. Bastante interesante.
Otherwise the title reminds me of how the Argentines are still mired in social wealth-destroying Peronista left-wing nonsense.

Spent a good portion of the morning researching the role of accordian in eastern European music, and now THIS in my ears. Wonderful fusion!

Fun, but did I hear barking noises in the beginning of this song. I didn't notice it until my dogs started to chime in!

their tracks also feature crickets chirping and ping-pong-playing - highly recommended for
Ah, Oceans 12.
Has a good beat and one can dance to it.
Even with only a skoach of liquid encouragement.
I think this has gone on long enough.
Gruu-Vee!
It gives me weird thrills each time the fanatic, hatefully agitating voice shouting "The foreign capitalism!" comes in. I think it evokes some of Argentina's 20th Century history. And not only Argentina's.

Great stuff for tuning out to work. . .

Sweet tango
Very cool.
Definitely worth listening to the whole album. I heard them here on RP first and can't get enough since.
The video for Santa Maria is a visual jewel too.
Probably clever. Definitely boring.
is it over ... yet?
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
i dance like this in the shower.
Bought the new Gotan CD last week. It's even better than the first, which was phenomenal.
Definately got me on board!

Muy bien dicho. Me gusta mucho sus canciones y su ritmo sensual.
Yet another excellent tune from these Argentines exiled in Paris.
Seems like everything these guys do is exceptional. Can't get enough!
Listening to this, my immediate impression is that it is cross between two other great RP staples:
Cake and Calexico
Someone should check that dog barking out in the yard...
Dang! What a SET!
Holy Egoism of Genius - Art of Noise
Cali Guitar Trio - Beethoven
Paul Schwartz - Dido
Gotan Project...
Bought the CD and its very good. The second CD, however is just remixes, but they're good too.

Got that A. Piazzolla sound, like other Gotan tracks. Nice!
This song was so fun to listen to I had to move to my computer room with the really good speakers so I could jam out in full surround!

Hey you're right! It's perfect for that movie.

Right on! This is great stuff! Sets the moodperfectly!
Sometimes when I hear stuff like this I scoot over to my computer to see if it has decided to arbitrarily switch itself over to Beat Blender or Epiphany Radio or something.. Eclectic indeed.
This is why I listen to RP - way to go Bill.

Realy nice to listen to. But do not take this as real Tango Argentino. The rhythm is absoluty not tango. I guess real Tango is hard to listen to for non-aficionados.

I love them! Wonderful blend indeed. They are playing at the Spectrum (in Montreal) at the end of the month, can't wait to see them live!

Indeed. In my case it's the other way around I'm so into the downtempo that Bill's open minded attitude to a lot of stuff that rock purists might scorn is one of the reasons I spend more time here than at Soma-FM. And in the process I'm exposed to rock classics I may have overlooked as well as some bang up world music, which luckily Bill also favours.
