Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go-ho
I wanna be sedated

Just get me to the airport, and put me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho

Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go-ho
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho

Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go go-ho
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho

Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go go-ho
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, and get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh, no, oh, oh, oh, ho

Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated
Bah bah ba-bah, ba-bah bah ba-bah, I wanna be sedated

Took my younger brother to a club about 40 years ago to see them - what a hoot: smoke machine on over-kill and all other varieties of smoke -"take-it-Dee-Dee-1-2-3-4!", one tune into another, crazy energy; we had a blast. Great time with a brother who I couldn't tolerate less than 2 years before!

I got in trouble from the grandparents in-law for teaching this song to my (at the time) 3 year old grandson.  Sheesh they didn't understand it's about a guy afraid to get on a plane.  Anyway, he survived and will be 18 in january.
The Clash then the Ramones!!!!
One of the best album covers of all time. It got me to buy it when it came out.
Friends of mine are in a barbershop quartet called FRED, and a while back they performed this song on a Penn and Teller show. You gotta admit, that's weird.

The ramones were a fabulous group, their words seem simple and without culture but actually they are a plea for the American subculture of comics, bars and rock. Pure and brilliant classics.

You should really change that.  Start with the "Leave Home" reissue.  It's still got their great early sound, and all the great songs from the 1st album tacked on at the end in a live concert, which is the way they should be heard...as fast & furious as possible!
This was probably their most-fun (and most "radio-friendly") song they ever recorded, and yet it was still shunned by radio programmers.

Too bad it took 20 years before it caught on with the masses, but by then, it was too late to save the band.

Totally agree! I like reading and posting on this site, even if I feel that some of the stuff is rubbish that I disagree with (as in below72’s post). I believe however that even the idiots are entitled to their opinions and as long as they aren’t nasty they shouldn't be insulted for them. Lets all self-moderate and avoid abusive comments as I’d hate to see this site descend into some of the vileness you see in other less enlightened areas of social media.

Yes, I wish I could still be sedated, but those days are gone. And I'm still alive and well (Johnny Winter).

Stupid is what stupid does.  They couldn't play, they couldn't sing, they couldn't write, scooped up whatever drugs they could find...and millions of idiots listened to these fools.  Like Don Henley said: Some rich men came and raped the land, Nobody caught 'em - Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus, people bought 'em - And they called it paradise (The Last Resort)

Zero tolerance for others and other lifestyles, other cultures. Only the own way of thinking is right, right.

What is stupid here is you, that you not only think this way, but also feel compelled to share this stupid thoughts with us.

It is everyones perogative to listen to and like and find good and appreciate WHATEVER THEY WANT!
And it is not you place to "forbit" this or call it madness.

But if it is madness, then I am rather mad than a stupid fool like you!

There are a lot of bands, even nowadays who cannot sing, write or play, and still make bucketloads of money.

And good for them, I say.

I hear that.
Still, da Ramones were fun. NYC CBGB would not have been the same without them. (I wouldn't know, personally, though, I was in school in Boston at the Rathskeller and thereabouts.)
A word to your lyrics. One of my fav Eagle songs, and one of my fav songs about social justice and human ethics, or lack thereof.
One comma in, or out, makes a big big difference.

Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus, people bought 'em

Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus people bought 'em

Hard to believe this came out when I graduated from high school.  I was ignorant of them at the time.

This song is timeless!

I think you’ll find this type of thing is called ‘rock n roll’. Perhaps you would be more confortable with an ‘easy listening’ station.

They couldn't play, they couldn't sing, they couldn't write, scooped up whatever drugs they could find...

Well, that ticks all my boxes then....
So the playlist says:

Gene Vincent    Be Bop a Lula
Stray Cats        Rock this Town
Dick Dale         Night Rider
Ramones         Wanna be Sedated
Reminds me why I love RP!!!

I guess you don't dance ever.

I heard the band wrote this song while being stranded in London on Christmas Eve. Everything was closed and they couldn't get a flight back to the U.S. for another 24 hours so they were stuck with nothing to do, nowhere to go-ho.

The Ramones could give a master class on how to get into a song, knock your socks off, and get out. So sweet and tight.
Every time this comes on I have to stop what I'm doing and sing!  Love it.

Back in the day the delivery of Ramones songs felt like a million miles an hour frantic. It doesn’t feel as wild today but I’m not as wild as I was in the 70’s either.

love this song...

reminds me of this poem—

next to of course god
by e.e. cummings

“next to of course god america i
love you land of the pilgrims’ and so forth oh
say can you see by the dawn’s early my
country ’tis of centuries come and go
and are no more what of it we should worry
in every language even deafanddumb
thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry
by jingo by gee by gosh by gum
why talk of beauty what could be more beaut-
iful than these heroic happy dead
who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter
they did not stop to think they died instead
then shall the voice of liberty be mute?”

He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water

I miss the Ramones desperately.

love this song...  reminds me of this poem—

SPRING, 2012
by David Bottoms

I rub my eyes. The world is still green—
a lime dust coating the porch tiles, rocking chairs, patio, yard,

delicate as a mourning veil.

A green finch dances between the bird feeders.
I can't breathe, my eyes water. My friend can't breathe, either.

She's lost her son to an I.E.D. No details yet. Routine patrol
around a dusty village far away.

Tea waits on the table between us, and two blueberry scones.
Impossible, of course, to talk about loneliness

or changing our lives. Rain today, then a cooling.
In a week or so, dogwoods flowering along the back fence.

After that, maple sap staining the hoods of our cars.

Just what I needed for today!!! I too want to be sedated!  {#Drunk}
