I don't want to wonder if this a blunder
I don't want to worry whether we're going to stay together till we die
I don't want to jump in unless this music's thumpin
All the dishes rattle in the cupboards when the elephants arrive

I want to love you madly
I want to love you now
(I want to love you)
I want to love you madly
(wait)
I want to love you love you love you madly

I don't want to fake it,
I just want to make it
The ornaments look pretty but they're pulling down the branches of the tree
I don't want to think about it,
I don't want to talk about it
When I kiss your lips I want to sink down to the bottom of the sea

I want to love you madly
I want to love you now
(yeah)
I want to love you madly
(wait)
I want to love you, love you, love you madly

I don't want to hold back,
I don't want to slip down
I don't want to think back to the one thing that I know I should have done
I don't want to doubt you,
know everything about you
I don't want to sit across the table from you wishing I could run

I want to love you madly
I want to love you now
I want to love you madly
(oh wait)
I want to love you, love you, love you madly

Wow what a writing prompt!

Where did the story go next? What fictional story does this kick off?

RP inspires in more than just music!
lots of expertise on lotsa levels but somehow banal.

The two of them had allot of self control, but things finally progressed and the relationship took a rather "adult" leap. In the afterglow, George looked tenderly into my (now defiled) daughter's eyes and said, "I love you". Sis, who was little taken back by this new development, hesitated a moment to gather her thoughts, finally responded, "I...... I...... um..... I love cake?" True story.

Would love to know what George did with that info.

CAKE!!!  (And yes, I'd already rated it a 10.)
this 2 rating is the highest I've ever rated a Cake song. It has some listenability but not very much.
Excellent!!
I love how this song just comes on in and scores, mercilessly and often, with that infectious beat! I'm so glad I've seen them twice!

Gabe Nelson, one of the unsung heroes of the bass.
Can't get away from this bloody annoying band. For FS this is supposed to be the rock mix. You're losing it RP
Wow. The base line on this track!!
liking Cake more and more, always a little bit different, and their tongue in cheek attitude
Great mid-century modern cover. Atomic cocktails 🍸
This sucks!
One of my favorite bands.
Nice piece of cake, tastes like more!
I really eat this shit up. Comfort Eagle is Da Bomb!
I cant get enough of this bass player!!!
This bassline won't let me sit still!
Needs more vibraslap.
Please, no more Cake!!
I need to go on a diet.
No thanks, PSD
Yum Yum
Bill: "Little slice of cake!"
Me: "Mmmm. Two servings please."

For anyone not in the know about Straight Edge, this isn't funny.  To me though, as a friend of a Hard Core fanatic, well...that's HI-larious!!  I'm at a 9 on this CAKE diddy...Long Live RP!!
RP has been serving up a lot of Cake lately, thank you.

Yeah, it's pretty clear you feel that way since you posted five consecutive comments about the song.

I was thinking the same. But the song is growing on me.

And i know it reminds me of another tune but i just can't put my finger on it.
8→9 CAKE kicks ass!  And I'm extra happy BillG likes his local music scene enough to make CAKE one of his heaviest 'non-new' plays - much to the chagrin of a lot of my fellow listeners....although this one is in the 7ish range which ain't too bad, eh?  Long Live RP!!
beef CHURRO powered love machination
I want to play something different

Music free music.
I LOVE the Cake songs like this one, where the guitar hook is so horrendously BAD, that I can recognize it and change the radio station before the alleged, " Lead singer," begins his inane mono-tone yelping.

Believe it or not, I just got into contact with this band some months ago and I have to say that I think they're great!!!! Or were?
Oh man! I was so sure the end was about to segue into "Love Is The Drug" by Roxy Music.
(EDIT: I see I am far from the first to make this connection with the car sounds)
BARF
there is some really crunchy, high fiber guitar in this, and all ,Cake songs. I love it.
Ah PSD!
Dear Cake:  I love you madly.
Thought for sure Bill was seguing into Steve Miller's Living In The USA but was sadly disappointed...maybe next time

Great band (!) with many shitty song!
I can say this band always struggles not to break their style, as if they feared to sound outside their script

Indeed, the similarity is really obvious :)
I discovered Cake here on RP and think they're generally excellent!
ARRRGH!!!  I love this song madly, but my 4G cellular internet is only giving me 10-second bursts of music followed by 10-second bursts of silence.  Like an aural strobe light in super slo-mo.  ("Can you say third world?  I thought you could.")
Thank God for PSD

kinda sounds like George Harrison

I usually dislike Cake, but this and "Comfort Eagle" are pretty damn good.

I have no idea what "comfort eagle" means/refers to, though.
Gimmecake{#Jump}
Cover art: just what do a cocktail-swilling Romney-and-wife lookalike have to do with a comfort eagle? BTW: what's a comfort eagle?
cake usually cheers me up. and i love this song. but got some news today. and cake reminds me of my ex sometimes. so this song makes me want to strangle him today.

Love this Song.!!!
Hate cake! Great band name..."HateCake". {#Drunk}
Something about a well-honed edge comes to mind here, and I know there's more that just won't, right now. Ha! Well...that's another story.

My trouble with this album (and I hope it's a temporary condition) is that I am spoiled by their first effort, Fashion Nugget. I'm always in the mood for anything I hear from that album!

Just in case you read this, Bill...

HA!

When you get it made, let me know.  I'll take that trip with you, buy about $100 worth of real music and give it to myself.  I could have done with about a decade less hair metal.

Of course, so could the rest of the world.

Hey hey Julia, you're acting so peculiar....
This song makes me dance with the dog if there's no one else around. Love the groove and Cake's dry sarcastic word play.

How I didn't love Cake from the first time I heard them I don't know.  I want to build a time machine so I can go back and call teenage me a right dick.
Awesomely tacky. I love it!

Thanks Bill!

I didn't but was hoping Bill would make the connection and make for another of his "signature" segues.

Alas, it is not to be, at least not today.

Spoon, followed by Cake? What's next? The Dead Milkmen?

I just can't listen to a Cake song without aching for an episode of "Chuck." I don't think this is a bad thing... {#Roflol}
All time great "Mr. Right (Now)" tune!
Thought the end of this song was the beginning of Roxy Music's Love is the Drug. Drats.
It's so cute

I like the line about elephants rattling the dishes.  (Don't you just hate it when they do that?)  Other than that, it sucks like the hard vacuum of deep space.

This is a rarity for me - a Cake track I really enjoy.  But other than this one (and perhaps Let Me Go), that's about all I can handle from them.

Has a nice funky grove to it..like it!!
