Si desapareció
En mi aparecerá
Creyeron que murió
Pero renacerá
Llovió, paró, llovió
Y un chico adivinó
Oímos una voz, y desde un tango
Rumor de pañuelo blanco

No eran buenas esas épocas
Malos eran esos aires
Fue hace veinticinco años
Y vos exístias

No eran buenas esas épocas
Malos eran esos aires
Fue hace veinticinco años
Y vos existías, sin existir todavía

Si desapareció
En mi aparecerá
Creyeron que murió y aquí se nace
Aquí la vida renace

No eran buenas esas épocas
Malos eran esos aires
Fue hace veinticinco años
Y vos exístias

No eran buenas esas épocas
Malos eran esos aires
Fue hace veinticinco años
Y vos existías, sin existir todavía

I fell in love with Tango dancing in 2009. I've been passionate about it ever since.

Later I discovered Nuevo Tango, e. g., Gotan Project, Bajofondo and a few other bands. Thanks for playing La Revancha, one if my favorites.

What other station would you be able to listen to such an outstanding mix of music?  Your years of experience in the music industry show, Bill!  Thank you!

I Agree completely!   Thanx RP
SUPERB!! I never heard of them before.  Thanx RP!
Hi Bill and Rebecca: I am a new subscriber and I love what you are doing. My preference seems to be the Mellow mix (lots of Canadian content which pleases me. but also so much new-to-me great music! Love that you have the lyrics (I'm a wordsmith too) and the bio!!!.. So rich.. I have been listening to World beat mix lately hoping for some Argentine Tango music and voila! heard Gotan Project today, which is great.
Someone mentioned the accordion, however the signature instrument in tango music is similar.. called the bandoneon.. FYI argentinetangoradio.com an all tango radio station from Budapest.. All the best for the coming year! Keep on doing what you do so well! .... Cheers, Fran.. Silverton, B.C. Canada
So good... Amazing live too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voV-v_B__MY

I remember one washing machine commercial using their music. Here in Spain.

I like GP generally speaking, well, when I'm in the mood for it.
If not, then it is kinda monotonous.
yo amo esta canción, es mi favorita de Gotan Project...

I hate it when that happens!

If he disappeared
he will reappear in me
they believed he died
but he will be reborn.
It rained, it stopped, it rained
and a kid guessed
we heard a voice, and from a tango
white handkerchief rustle.
Those were not good times
bad was the air
it was 25 years ago
and you existed, without existing yet.

That is funny {#Lol}.

I really want you to know, though, that she is actually talking about the dictatorship period around 1976, very hard and serious stuff. Thanks Danny_G for the photo, name and lyrics.

Really cool song. GP is underrated imo. Anywho, funky stuff.

Bill, keep Gotan going...
I don't know them but if this is a poor example I would definitely like to hear more (even if it is a good example, I guess)
:-)  dig it
modern tango—interesting

Oh my god, this music is used in an advert for dishwasher detergent.  It's nice to hear the entire song.

I'm a sucker for these sexy spanish songs. Great song in my book. Thanks.

I'd be happy to consider agreeing with your statement, if you'd care to cough up a useful definition of 'real instruments' for me.

Yep. "Chick" is Cristina Villalonga from España: Si desapareció en mi aparecerá creyeron que murió pero renacerá Llovió, paró, llovió y un chico adivinó oímos una voz, y desde un tango rumor de pañuelo blanco No eran buenas esas épocas malos eran esos aires fue hace veinticinco años y vos existías, sin existir todavía.

You got me laughing on that one, Cambot. In fact, walking down the streets of Buenos Aires a couple months ago, I heard this very song being played in several stores. As if that weren't odd enough, I heard it again last week in Paris! Funny thing is, these guys are from Paris but call themselves "top Argentinean musicians exiled in Paris." I guess it all fits now. I really dig this stuff, but I guess that's obvious.
Funny thing...I was in Buenos Aires last week and heard this one twice. My girlfriend is an Argentine tango nut (and to brag for her, she's excellent too), and she also loves this group. I think she referred to this as "modern tango" music...
Oh great, now I'm in the mood for a Cirque De Soleil.

Hmm... I'm seeing a pattern here... 8:13 am - Gotan Project - Epoca 8:10 am - Beck - Dark Star 8:04 am - Wilco - You Are My Face 8:02 am - Elliott Smith - Between The Bars 7:59 am - Calexico - Sunken Waltz 7:55 am - Radiohead - Subterranean Homesick Alien I can't complain, though. It's still all great music.
Interesante....

Let's hear less from knuckle dragging, misogyonistic y-chromosomes. Just a suggestion.

That's true enough, some appear to be pretty unsophisticated.

From Paris? It does fit.
Gets me in touch with Lido Libido... :whip:

I wonder where our overlap is. I also think Death Cab for Cutie sucks big time, but I realy love this Gotan Project.

love her sexy voice!
I like other tracks from Gotan Project but not oarticularly this one
Each element sounds okay on its own, but the overall effect is numbing. The drum loop is modestly interesting, but with so little variation. Each instrument and the singing are all working on similar rhythms, creating no contrast. Kind of a waste of time, now that I think about it. I should stop wasting my time writing about it, huh?
Another album that will be a part of the soundtrack of my summer. Got to love that accordion. :)
