I'm a fountain of blood
In the shape of a girl
You're the bird on the brim
Hypnotized by the whirl

Drink me, make me feel real
Wet your beak in the stream
[the] Game we're playing is life
Love's a two way dream

Leave me now — return tonight
[the] Tide will show you the way
If you forget my name you will go astray
Like a killer whale trapped in a bay

I'm a path of cinders
Burning under your feet
You're the one who walks me
I'm your one-way street

I'm a whisper in water
[a] Secret for you to hear
You're the one who grows distant
When I beckon you near

Leave me now — return tonight
The tide will show you the way
If you forget my name go astray
Like a killer whale trapped in a bay

I'm a tree that grows hearts
One for each that you take
You're the intruder's hand
I'm the branch that you break

[''sung in Icelandic:'']
Life is a necklace of fears
Your uncried tears on a string
Our love will untie them — come here
Loving me is the easiest thing

Good God, if James Bond theme songs were recorded and produced on the banks of the 8th circle of Hell, and you're forced to listen after someone takes a cheese grater to your buttocks then makes you sit in a hot skillet full of boiling turpentine.

(edit) I apologize, sort of. I just have never developed an appreciation for Björk.

I like this song. Strong vocal, fabulous accordion at the end. It's really art. And did you seen music video? Very extraordinary clip
would rather push broken glass into my ears than listen to her excruciating wailing.  make it stop!!

Yes, I have to agree, but I am impressed with the head propellers.  I assume this would allow her to gain vertical as well as horizontal lift?

I have to agree. This song & album are really wonderful & different. I say play "Alarm Call", (prolly one of my faves of this cd,) but it has the F-word in it& people were freaking out about that Metric song with a cuss in it, so....lol

The magic that is Bjork. 10.

I find Bjork an irritating person - at least the public persona. And normally I don't like a lot of her music, but this is good, and I really like the cover of the album.
eh, just cause it's weird doesn't mean it's good. (disclaimer: I do like some bjork tracks)

I like Bjoerk--a lot. So having established my bona fides, I have to argue with the obvious falacy of your statement: There was a time when we referred to it as album cover art , for the very good reason that many musicians/studios had their people put a lot of creative effort into it, and there is some brilliant cover art out there. Clearly this is such an attempt--I mean, really, this isn't just a snapshot of the artist and doesn't bear any resemblance to other pictures I've seen of her. And it really is hideous.
Okay by me; wouldn't buy a CD, though.

Other than for a couple of tunes on Debut, I don't get Bjork .... It's not a "dive for the mute button" thing like Radiohead --- in this case I genuinely feel like I'm missing something. I'll get it yet ...

You got that right. I've been listening to this ol' girl for a long time now. She's had one song that was passable-good ("Human Behavior"). The rest sound like a couple of skunks mating in a dumpster. But I don't "get" Yoko (John loved her, that's good enough for me) or some of the other avant-gard artists played on here either. So it goes. I don't understand buying $250 front row tickets to a rock show, and then wearing earplugs either. We used to know who the "narcs" were by that kind of behavior.
