is this a sound
or just a dream?
in my world nothing is quite what it seems

white shroud
clear blue sky
te sea swells a bit
when sailors die

was that a word?
is this a clue?
youre so very far away
but im sure its you

feathers fall
birds in flight
they bury me slowly
is it really still night?

was that a word?
is this a clue?
youre so very far away
but im sure its you

feathers fall
seabirds in flight
in my world
nothing is

First heard on a long dark drive home on a 2 lane highway after a Phish concert where I had scored some reasonably good tab. Radio signal started going out so I just pulled over on the side so I could finish what at the time was the greatest song ever. Thanks for the memory RP.
YaY! GREAT to hear this again on RP! Thank You!
It's a 9.8 for me.
This is a forgotten gem from the 90's. Sublime. The whole album is outstanding.
Sounds loungey, chilly, xyzey. A coccrete eight!
has something of Beck but pales in comparison, too uninspired and repetitive for me. Quite a dull and boring song in my ears.
It is the 1st time that I have heard this.  IDK.  ...maybe it will grow on me. I gave it an 8, ...subject to change in the future.
Nice to hear this. .

Agreed,in fact I'm going 6 to 8 on this "RP hip-hop" track, mostly due to the grooviness © you mentioned, and also cuz this is about as rap as BillG gets. RaP 4Eva!!

Wonder if that obit mentioned that in 1987 he told viewers of his TV show that if he didn't raise $8 million in four months, God was going to call him home. 'Cause that 900-foot Jesus is all about the Benjamins.
Groovy track. 👍

I bought this album after hearing the track with Vernon Reid from Living Color and that amazing Wah-Wah performance.
LMOA at the narrative on some tracks and respected the word/music interplay on others
At the time I thought this is ahead of the curve.
Turns out I wasn't too far wrong. Eminem and Beck should thank them for laying down some tall grass and making a path forward .

This song would be very nice without that squeaky door.   I think some WD-40 might fix it.

A hip-hop cliche, that's what. Still a cool tune regardless.

So many good times, and excellent music from these guys. Great choice.

Thanks, vandal! A glimpse of what could have become of popular music if the thug cartel had not prevailed. Guess that's why there's an entire newspaper section for sports, and just an occasional science feature.

A far departure from While the City Sleeps, but a great bit of music still.

Bloody hell - this is brilliant! Yet another artist I had no idea existed and I have just had to buy off the RP Amazon link. . .

Fantastic!  I'd forgotten all about MC 900ft Jesus...
Thanks RP for reminding me!

New band and new tune to me.  I like it.
Good driving tune. Too bad you can't buy it on iTunes...  {#Propeller}

Still massive coolness.
SOOOO good to hear this again!

Perhaps at 1500 or 1600ft, this artist would have had more staying power.

Alas, I have tried to post other tracks, but it's still too new (?) for the RP crowd, even with 1995 style white urban trip-hop.

Meanwhile, this track will hide under a rock at sea, to peer out from time to time on select TV soundtracks....

Three and a half years later,
post more, it is time.

FWIW, there is a song on this CD called "Bill's Dream." I wonder what that's about?

I can't help liking this groove.  But he's gotta put some WD40 in that door hinge.

Love this.

I have a bit of a cold and when I breathed in, I made almost the exact same noise as is running throughout this song. Maybe I should call myself MC 900 FT Sinus Infection? BTW, Love the song, a solid solid 8.

Someone frequents fark.com. Like the song by the way.
awesome song I think (8). We could use a 900 foot Jesus here in The Buckle of The Bible Belt. "We" have a cross out on I-35 that's about 200 feet tall. I think the message is "if you ain't a Baptist, like us, then you can git along" (whoa...the thread for this song is hysterical. LMAO)
If I only had a brain?
Hey ... this feels ... really nice. More please.
Sublime.
Great! I haven't heard this in years! (except when used as npr segues)

OMG! Bill surprises me day by day... I never expected MC900 to be played on RP. Love the voice, the lyrics(!) and the groove. Most of his songs are dark but worth listen to.
But fix that squeaky door, will you?
I have this CD, the only one of his I'm familiar with but it's too cool. Check out "But if you go" and "If I only had a brain"... Great lyrics and music. Great to hear this--it's been ages.

Nice. Time to pull this album out again for the first time in about 10 years. I'll give it an 8. 7 for the song, plus a bonus point for the funniest set of comments I've read in a while. Thanks mperetz!
This song plain rulez. I don't know how I missed it till I heard it here.

Oddly intolerant religion is this atheism.
Sounds like Nine Inch Nails to me.

So you're dissing this song because the band name has 'Jesus' in it?
Personally, I believe it would be difficult for any one human being to support 900 feet of anything, much less a Jesus that large. That would be quite large, nearly twice the height of the Washington Monument. Now, perhaps, if it were a 900 ft. Helium Balloon Jesus, then it would take a bunch of people to hold Him down, not support him. Just depends on your point of view. I guess the band's name is metaphorical.
As an athiest...uh..uh...I forgot what I was going to say.

I, too, can't support 900 foot tall MC Jesuses.

AMG doesn't show him having anything since the mid 90s. Too bad. Great grooves.

What can you say about Oral Roberts that hasn't been said before? Not only does he describe a 900-ft tall person, not only can this person lift the City of Faith, but he's Jesus Christ, to boot. The Jesus Christ part Oral clearly could handle, since he had seen him before, that was old hat. But being 50% taller than the City of Faith, being able to lift the City of Faith, and being able to ensure funds for its completion would certainly seem to be the important facets of Jesus Christ for Oral. I know I sound like a godless heathen. But I don't have a problem with God or Jesus, I just have a problem with Oral and his ilk. It's not enough that God gives us life, a universe, and salvation. He must also send his Son as a 900 ft tall apparition who lifts large structures and ensures financing. For Oral, who has a direct line to Him, and who wants to build Big Things in His honor. With our money.
Actually I think it's Oral and his ilk that sound like godless heathens. I could see Zeus doing the 900 foot apparition thing. Or maybe Poseidon. But the Christ who threw the moneychangers out of the temple and preached that "man was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath for man?" Not bloody likely, that.

really cool groove - I'm diggin' it. But what's with that artist's name? AMG sez it comes from an Oral Roberts sermon. What could he possibly have been preaching about?
I've heard this used numerous times on TV and maybe in a movie or two. Have always wondered what this was. Now I know.
Aha, so that's what this is. THey use this song often on This American Life.
SO...weird! I JUST commented about MC9FJ for another song last week, COINCIDENCE??
