This was a disappointing single. 5. Although Slide Away is the best song of the last 20 years and I pity you idiots who only know Wonderwall, which is distinctly average.
The piano at the end of the song is almost exactly the same! They both come in with the same melody and time to close the song. I guess you can call it "ripping off" but it's still a good song.... If it was good music back then what makes it not good music now? They encorporated it into their song well also. Despite what a **** Liam is. It's obviously inspired by and has some similarities too Street fighting man but it is different, more like giving homage to good music.
Caught these guys at ACL Music Fest last weekend (where they performed this tune). Throw out Liam and they're a helluva band. The entire concert Liam just stood there, arms at his side, like a complete prima donna. When he wasn't singing (and the far more talented Noel was), he completely left the stage. Not once did he try to engage the crowd. What a sour taste they left in my mouth. Too bad.
Rip Off.
I normally don't like Oasis, but I like this one.
OTOH, if I never hear "Wonderwall" again, I'll die happy.
It OK, but:
1) It reminds me too much of Layla...and that other one with the name that starts with L. Can't remember it.
2) When I hear this voice, all I can think is "WTF is a 'wonderwall'?"
My first 1.
Nothing against those of you who like the tune, but I can't handle it. This song really solidified my complete dislike for Oasis.

I'm tempted to rate this higher...just to make sure it stays in the rotation so I can read this post every so often.
But the song is just so-so in my opinion.
No redeeming musical value!

the rating is only 4.5 ?

I think it is not as bad as that !

I'm sure you could find someone willing to help...
While this is OK, the Ryan Adams version is much better.

Is that Meg White on drums?

Simply stated. I love brevity and this comment.
Swagger trumps talent
If this was the first Oasis song I'd ever heard, I'd like it. It's not, and that's why it just doesn't do it for me. Too bad, because I do like Oasis.
This is pretty obnoxious.

Meh...purely boring.

I guess they don't want to be known for ripping off the Beatles, so they are moving on to the Stones. I thought it was a cover of Street Fighting Man there for a second.
And I was just about to post this EXACT same message. Which is basically the same message somebody ELSE already posted below. The more Oasis rips everybody else off, the more us message writers rip each other off too!
Oasis tunes are OK, except I always get this urge to kick them in the teeth. :tapedshut.gif:

not suprising for Oasis - interesting but never quite original
