You wrap your arms around
A feeling that surrounds
Like liquid peppermint
Just taste the drinks that she served

And this feeling shivers down your spine
Love comes in colors I can't deny
All that matters is love, love, your love

You're sleeping in your bed
Just rest your weary head
Maybe you shouldn't care
Throw away those dreams and dare

And I wonder if it matters to me
Love comes in colors I can't deny
All that shimmers is love, love, your love
Your love
Your love

One of the top ten albums of the 90s
"Do I belong in the conversation about the best artists in the world? My answer is yes, I do." - Billy Corgan

Yes, that's a real Billy Corgan quote.

Nailed it.

Gish - Fantastic album...  haters sigh - wasting energy and time sharing hate...  imagine

I  Agree Completely!!

I think this is the best SP album...  It's good all the way through.

I wish I knew how to insert GIFs.  If I did it would be from the Bass-a-Matic sketch on the old SNL.  Oh well.

Time Machine! Fire up another fatty! I was working at Arapahoe Basin when THIS burst like a supernova; it was late-season, the snow wouldn't stop; we spent our days skiing and staying at proper elevation and our nights drinking and socializing at the Alpine Lodge, Snake River Saloon, and Pug Ryan's... This, Jesus Jones' Doubt, Charlatans UK's Some Friendly, Chris Isaak's Heart-Shaped World, and REM's Out of Time were BIG!
Good Tune!
What a great debut album.  Remember seeing them at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago when this album came out...I was like, "who are these guys" and they proceded to blow the roof off with songs like I Am One and Bury Me.  Just killer.
Sublime on a Saturday morning after a little flower.
A stellar album and their best imo.  The bass on this song just envelops you.  Brilliant song.
James Yoshinobu Iha, one of the most underrated guitarists.
Mick Jagger much?
Still sounds so good after all of these.years
I wonder who wins a wrestling match between the lead singer and Haystack Calhoun?
Has the lead singer given up his professional wrestling career?

Now that dedication to an art form!
Still one of my favorite Pumpkins' songs
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
This song is like an old friend. It reminds me of the crazy time when it came out and I realized that the world had more to offer than bland music.
Love that thumpin' bass line!
It would be great to throw some Adore into the mix  here. Great album. from a great band.
Drown introduced me to this amazing band.  I Am One and Rhinoceros sealed the deal. Gish has got to be my favourite Pumpkins album.

That's funny, I hit PSD and got Sail on Sailor by the Beach Boys, also a great antidote.

Interesting PSD choice made there by the RP-PSD gods....considering that Billy Corgan has stated that the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson were a HUGE influence to him musically.  And like you, I prefer the BB song to the SP song.  Long Live RP!!
Turn it up!
This guy has a voice as thin as an optical paper. Instant PSD.
First time I've hit PSD.

Took me to HellecastersOrange Blossom Special

Loved it!...

The guitar work here is brilliant. James Yoshinobo Iha's tone!
adoro London Grammar... {#Roflol}
Really like this whole album. For me, early Pumpkins hits the spot more so than the later stuff. Often the case. 😉

Can you image Billy and Kanye together in the same room.

Talk about a BRILLIANT debut album!  it's a 10, ok maybe a "9".

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches be dancing buck ass naked all over the world like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners...  love this song...  love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
been a while since I gave such a rating...but hey...it is ..."ho hum"...pretty dull song by a reasonably talented group with some great songs..this is NOT one of them. I don't believe in rating a song based on an assumed level for the overall band.
the great comments below make me like this song even more
Gish is the best album Punkins ever did.
De mis temas favoritos de los Smashing Pumpkins! Tuve la suerte de verlos, amo esta banda!

billy córgão... eu te amo!!!
Some of Smashing Pumpkins wouldn't be so bad...like this song for instance....if it weren't for Billy Corgan singing.....
This album brought me out of a trance - there was something going on outside of Seattle (albeit not far removed)! I discovered Pavement, Swervedriver, Mercury Rev etc. This cassette stayed in my Walkman until it wore out...

It makes me smile to think there are other people in this world that share these kind of memories.

Gish changed my musical taste at the time.
Gish is lazily sitting in bed on a Sunday morning smoking a joint and watching dust motes swirl in the slanted sunlight coming in through the curtain.

I don't hate on Mellon Collie like some music snobs but Gish and Siamese Dream were definitely Smashing Pumpkins' musical high water mark.

I agree...their first few releases were extremely good, and their later stuff, to me, slipped a bit. Some of it was still very good, but the songs were more hit-or-miss to me.

Wow.  1979 is like the worst Smashing Pumpkins song ever and that is one of the two you choose to still like?  I can't fast forward that one fast enough ever.  Gish = classic.

Gish is Galicious!

Nice sideways compliment to yourself (I am simply observing not reprimanding)

I can't believe this is the only track played from this album.

Corgan whine = <mute> as usual.
Good song, bad singer.  Can't get past that.  I'll have to wait for the definitive SP tribute album to fully appreciate them.
an exceptional rock band. an original. their best work actually improves with age.

Sorry, I do not like Billy's timbre, but this one is really enjoyable.
I am starting to feel this song.

Yes, me too. Except I bought it on a whim. And it still remains one of my top ten albums. And I KNOW music.

My memories of that first listen were of a fellow pizza driver who I bonded with over Jane's Addiction. At the beginning of a night shift, he handed me the tape and said "Have fun!" Oh...I did.

Yup. I remember a very similar day, a road trip in fact, captive audience, pretty mind-blowing at the time.

"Real" Rock with songs like Cupid de Locke, We Only Come Out At Night and the title track? Interesting.
Oh yeah!!!!! This sucks.

..and i love that
this song reminds me hot summer evening's air... one of the best songs on gish.
I gave it a 6, which is pretty high for any Smashing Pumpkins song for me. Do they have any instrumentals so I don't have to listen to the singing nose?

I would say this was wearing thin, but it would have had to have some dimension to start with. No such luck. Sorry, gang - not a Pumpkinhead.
