Will never, never do, there is no med
No medicine to take
I've had a chance to be insane
Asylum from the falling rain
I've had a chance to break
It's so bad, it's got to be good
Mysterious girl misunderstood
Dressed like a wedding cake
Any other day and I might play
A funeral march for Bonnie Brae
Why try and run away?
Slow cheetah, come before for my forest
Looks like it's on today
Slow cheetah, come, it's so euphoric
No matter what they say
I know a girl, she worked in a store
She knew not what her life was for
She barely knew her name
They tried to tell her she would never be
As happy as a girl in a magazine
She bought it with her pay
Slow cheetah, come before for my forest
Looks like it's on today
Slow cheetah, come, it's so euphoric
No matter what they say
Everyone has so much to say
They talk, talk, talk their lives away
Don't even hesitate
Walking on down to the burial ground
It's a very old dance with a merry old sound
Looks like it's on today
Slow cheetah, come before for my forest
Looks like it's on today
Slow cheetah, come, it's so euphoric
No matter what they say
Slow cheetah, come before for my forest
Looks like it's on today

i like this song and i hate myself for it
Funny. I guess there are lots of people who hate this song (and the band) and loving themselves for it. I must admit I am one of them.
"“I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the f**k is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.” - Nick Cave
I don't listen to musicians. I have my own ears and can like what I like. I like Cave, but shut up about other musicians. And I believe there is some jealousy here. The Pepper's can sell out football stadiums worldwide. Nick can't.
Animal puns, huh? Toucan play that game.
You gotta be kitten me.
I like myself and I hate this song. And the band.
I dislike the band, but I am compelled to respect Flea's musicianship.

Give Mother's Milk a spin and report back later.
Or By The Way also good from start to finish
I'm not quite sure why there's so much hatred for this tune. It's not their best...but it's certainly not deserving of the hate. I actually like the harmonies in the chorus. It helps lead singer Anthony to be more solid in his pitch.
I guess I should explain that. I don't dislike the band, but despite the subject matter, the lyrics and tune are a bit lacking.

i like this song and i hate myself for it
My feeling also Leechi very sad song
Top 5 for sure.
That's Frusciante on the high pitched harmonies helping him

"Regardless, this is some of the best-tasting rat poison I've ever had."
I mean, I hate to be a stereotypical hater - you certainly can't pick on their rhythm section - but Keidis' constant efforts to lend their songs something resembling a melody is just a decades-long exercise in futility. Even Ringo Starr is shaking his head at the lack of range.
May they continue to beat themselves senseless.

It doesn't matter if the point is valid. It only matters that a song was criticized, and to h8r that is intolerable.
That's h8rhater to you. A pretty important distinction I'd say. Let's be clear on who/what the h8 is for.
Eh, I think he's got a point there. They've been making great music since I was a kid, but Californication was the end of it for me. Now everything sounds like it. Pick up Mother's Milk or any other early album and see if any of it resembles this watered-down stuff.

These guys were just crazy and fun in the beginning.
Flea with his stuffed animal pants...
I'm sorry but almost everything I hear from them these days sounds so recycled and generic. It's like they are lampooning themselves.
It's about as adventurous as Boston (but with more tattoes and less power chords).
And Anthony Kiedis is not aging well.
Never thought much of this band even at its peak.
Curiously, band members have done excellent work on the recordings of other artists, but this band consistently produces drab dross.

Chili Peppers by numbers. They were so much better when they were strung out on smack.
GOLDEN BROWN CHILI PEPPERS.
Once on smack...!
Heaven forbid a band have their own sound.
Agreed. Formula at play.
I hate this song, blech...Anthony sounds terrible, though I usually like him. He sounds off key and it's boring.

I totally agree, give me early Peppers anytime, but everything since Californication does pretty much sound the same (all mediocre and bland)
I'm still ambiguous about them. Some days I love their music, and other days, I just want to shriek in horror and frustration. I guess this is another of those extreme bands - either one loves them or hates them, and any attempt to be middle-ground results in brain-fry. I've done the tightwire act so far, but I swear - if Anthony Kiedis gets any more off-key with his vocals, I won't be accountable for my actions.
Because you have no ability to discern.

Oh come on, how repetitive would it be if every single post was prefaced with "In my opinion ..."
Give people a little credit. We know this is a place to air our opinions.
I was referring to the tone of the comments, not that they should always be prefaced. Take a pill.

Nothing like their older stuff? Oh, you mean like rhyming state names in several songs. Yeah, that's a new one. They should have rhymed Mississippi with insipid.
Glad you qualified that with "in my estimation". Far too many of those posting here give their opinion as if it is fact. RHCP have never sounded better (in my estimation!).

I wasn't really listening, and I thought it was Californication.
Moving along now.
