Just as you take my hand
Just as you write my number down
Just as the drinks arrive
Just as they play your favorite song

As your bad day disappears
No longer wound up like a spring
Before you've had too much
Come back in focus again

The walls are bending shape
They got a cheshire cat grin
All blurring into one
This place is on a mission

Before the night owl
Before the animal noises
Closed circuit cameras
Before you're comatose

Before you run away from me
Before you're lost between the notes
The beat goes 'round and 'round
The beat goes 'round and 'round

I never really got there
I just pretended that I had
Words are blunt instruments
Words are sawed off shotguns

Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out

Before you run away from me
Before you're lost between the notes
Just as you take the mic
Just as you dance, dance, dance

A jigsaw falling into place
So there is nothing to explain
You eye each other as you pass
She looks back and you look back
Not just once
And not just twice

Wish away your nightmare
Wish away the nightmare
You got a light you can feel it on your back
A light and you can feel it on your back
Your jigsaw falling into place

I just changed my rating from 8 to 10.  Every time I hear this I just feel so damn good, such energy!.  I love Radiohead!
this sounds amazing on a good system
reminiscent of Love.
im partial to a driving beat, so I'm biased.
this is the best of this great band.

i had to google that. now i know what choon means. thank you!
It has taken years, but Radiohead has grown on me, like a slow growing moss.

Don’t be a pedant. It just means they moved their rating from a 7 to an 8.

I myself don't bob, I sway like a pendulum, kinda like the lyrics that slither into my head.
Album cover is someone failing to explain Burrows-Wheeler transforms..
One of may fav melody from Radiohead - TY RP !

For years I savaged Radiohead on these pages and in print, and one day I finally figured out that if you took Yorke's voice with a very large grain of salt, the band was incredible. Ditto the lyrics. Sigh. Unlike other bands, who will go unnamed, I think you have to take the wonderful with the not-so-wonderful. Still, Radiohead is pretty much everything touted about them. One hell of a band.

I'm getting there too, WonderLizard! And maybe I haven't been as savage against RH, though it's taken till recently to listen to this and 3 other RH albums in full, and yes, great stuff....this one's going +1 to 9...Long Live RP!!
Dave Fanning, a DJ on 2FM here in Ireland, summed up In Rainbows as 'beautiful' when it was released. It's a word that pops into my head every time this song starts. It invariably bouys me up in this mad human world.

One of the best Gigs ever when they played at Manchester Old Trafford Cricket ground in 2017. Literally one of the best times of my life....an amazing, unique band....and an amazing night

This song starts off with driving intensity but when Thom hits the second "The beat goes 'round and 'round",  the band presses the hyperspace button.  Just love the energy of this song.

SAME HERE! I agree!
Just watched a documentary that made mention of the fact that Radiohead were the openers for Alanis Morrisette during a portion of her Jagged Little Pill tour (her backing band featured Taylor Hawkins (man, RIP dude!) of the Foo's as her drummer!)...that is a strange collision of ascendancy and popularity if you ask me.  She said they were very aloof and didn't much care for them...lol...can't imagine why...
RH is hit or miss for me, This is a hit!
This is some fantastic RnR...take a moment and listen to the band, rather than Thom.  Those guys are killing it...driving, intense, passionate...you can feel the frantic energy...wow...

Early Radiohead sounds a lot like Kino, a Russian group popular in the eighties. although  Kino's singer/songwriter was a baritone.
not a big RH fan ,
but this ,
this is exeptional.
strong 9 .
A Radiohead song I like!
Impossible to listen to this song without bobbing my head like a fool watching Wayne's World.
For a song to be really great, it has to sound unforced and like it arrived unmolested from the tablets on the mount. This checks all the boxes.

Radiohead just continues to astound.

Like the tune.  Like the band name.

Mahler had a similar problem - if problem is the correct word.

This type of pretentiousness pretty much epitomizes RH fans.
This whole album is "most excellent",,,,give it  a "8"...

i guess Radio Head is very polirizing band just like Rush ,you eithr hate them or dig them
A good example of, 'just because it's Radiohead, doesn't mean it's good'.
There is a LOT of Radiohead on RP I note. Jolly good thing too.
soundtrack for a busy dream
This sucks cherry balls. Tasty

8 < 7. Sorry. Its effect decreases with repeats. Does this guy write any upbeat or affirmative material? So much f'in angst. That aside, his vocals, as usual, grate my ears like a roll up gate that needs some lube.
Best radiohead song! The unique godlike for me of radiohead.

I sometimes wonder why they bother as well. At least it stops him whining in another band.
Uh oh! Crossfire!
Beguiling!
Droning!
Well, at least we're not listening to Quadrophenia!
"Love, Feign o'er Me"
Always beguiling, never fails to draw me in. Thanks Bill.
It would be great if it wasn't for the awful vocal.
Ugh.  Yet another droning-turned-to-whining contribution from Radiohead.  How it is that the emo sheeple have caused this to linger is one of life's great sad moments.
This is growing on me hugely, as their stuff usually does.  Eventually.  ↑8
Sometimes Yorke's voice works, sometimes it doesn't... This is a case of the latter.
They do nothing wrong. They make other bands wonder why they try...I need a song or two to recover after that....

Time to boost the volume!

amazing sequence:
porcupine tree, then a day in the life, roundabout (yes), and finally this..

One of my rare 10s.  This song is brilliant.
the musical "feng shui" of this against Zep is why I dig on RP
I just lowered my rating to 'sucko barfo'. I had to, for the sake of reexperiencing the satisfaction of rating it 'godlike' again.

Not many tracks stop me dead in my tracks when I'm busy at work ... but this one does. Always has. Can't explain coherently here as to why, other than it's wonderfully complex and "edgy" and so brilliantly crafted. In Rainbows is an album that I just couldn't get my head around when it was first released. Maybe they were just way ahead of the curve back then when it was released (2007), but now - it's probably my most played RH album. As from their Wiki page "On 12 July (2014), Jonny Greenwood stated that Radiohead would "start up in September, playing, rehearsing and recording and see how it's sounding" ... Salivating here at the thought of what's to come!

I don't mute RP very often but this made me do it, dreadful.

The opening riff of this song owes an awful love to Arthurly and Love.

To me, this is almost mindless drivel. Not bad enough for PSD but not even remotely great. I realize that the fanboys will explain how Thom Yorke is singlehandedly saving music as an art form, but it is COMPLETELY lost on me.

That said, to me "Knives Out" is a great tune and arrangement, and RH do have other occasional flashes of brilliance. But the sun doesn't shine out of their collective arse.

Out of respect to said fanboys, I won't rate the song.

Well, I will.  6. I admire RH and there is smth like here...just not much.  lots of better RH played on RP, but nice to have a spectrum played. Thanks BillG.

 MassivRuss wrote:

What planet? Where does this insufferable worship of RadioHead come from?

Really trying to get it. This one got a 3 from me, it takes nearly a whole minute for Thom Yorke to turn his weak voice into true rectal itch and hearty PSD. As for the composition, it's no different from dozens of other of their songs. There's minimalism, then there's mindlessly arranged noodling in a single register.

Please excuse Jimmy's negative comment about your intellect in his response.

But to answer your question - the planet is earth (in my opinion of course - although I'm joined by many - it doesn't make it fact)

I couldn't disagree more with some of your opinions (weak voice?, rectal itch?, mindlessly arranged noodling?, no different fom dozens of RH songs??)

I'm thinking Thom's voice is a powerful 5th or 6th instrument - used in a wide variety of ways - in RH's catalog.
I believe the arrangements are precisely and splendidly arranged and the playing powerful, fluid and unique in rock.

My opinion is this album overall and this song in particular are more accessible to the average listener than many of their prior 2 or 3 efforts, very different from the vibe of Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief.  I think that's why many folks on this board who are not big RH fans still express admiration for this tune/album.

Won't address your feelings in your rear quarters.  These guys have a major affect on my mind, heart and soul.
