i don't mind waiting in line
no no
i don't mind if the bills pile up
and the work is slow
i don't mind the gas or the groceries or the grind
long as i'm with you
i'm having a good time

don't mind the stoner waiter
or the poorly cooked food
don't mind little miss kitty
or her knuckle head dude
don't mind if every last person here
is ugly and rude
long as i'm with you
i've got a good attitude
long as i'm with you

we could be stuck in traffic
for over a week
with a car full of quintuplets
who are all cutting teeth
and around my neck
could be a flaming christmas wreath
and i'd be smiling underneath
smiling underneath

i don't mind waking up early
for a flight that's delayed
i don't mind our week's vacation
was chilly and grey
i don't mind the traffic cops of the TSA
long as i'm with you
i'm having a good day

don't mind spilling my hot sauce
onto my white shirt
don't mind that twinge when i walk
in that knee that i hurt
don't mind my gums peeling back
or my hair getting thin
long as i'm with you i win

Could it be that you're missing the New Orleans vibe?  Listen for the mambo swamp influences — and it all makes more sense.

Agreed. I gave this track a 6, but that was sort of on principle.

I gave it a 1 based on principle.
Sounds to me like she's using the same (over)-producer as Alannis Morissette. I never would have guessed this was Ani. But then again, I only really know her from her live, practically solo stuff.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVE Ani.  I think she is one of the best singer/songwriters to come out in the past decade.  But this song is not up to her usual standard.  The music is weak, the lyrics feel awkward and strained.  I hope the rest of the disk is better than this.

Wow, those opening notes sound like the soundtrack to WATCHMEN/ PUMPKINS(?).

7.
It appears that she's put her library on eMusic so if you have a subscription to that, happy downloading!

I admire her talents and abilities, but don't particularly care for her songs.
Lyrically she sure took a page from Alanis on this one (isn't that ironic {#Tongue-out}), but I kinda dig the mellow groove.

She's certainly allowed to venture a bit.

Disconnecting from RP to listen to something else.

Yup, me likee.

Really, Bill and Rebecca? This is the best cut off this album? Makes me never ever want to get it. Hate to say it, but it sounds like Ani's got milk on the brain.
Ani on Prozac. Come on Ani, we know you can do better than this.
I dun know. It still has that characteristic unmusicality of her angry stuff.
I was afraid to look to see if this were Ani DiFranco.  I was even more disappointed to see that it is.

Strip away everything, give Ani a guitar, and let's see how good she can hopefully still be!

That line about the TSA forgives her of a multitude of previous lyrical sins!

Somebody needs to piss her off again. Maybe Tift Merritt could do it and we can kill 2 birds with one stone.

I don't know ... I kind of like the fact that she has found love and obviously she sounds happy ... why do we need her angry? I think I like her more now that she has some sort of inner peace within.

I found her ramblings as an angry woman kept me at arms length (as I am a man) I couldn't share in her experiences in her work ... but now that she has mellowed a little ... I can embrace what she is saying that much more, I don't know ... maybe women have the same experience with angry male singers ... that they cant "get" what they are about ... because its foreign to them ...

But we can all understand the feelings that love create, that being in love makes us feel

I am happy for Ani ... I like this stuff

Ditto.... except for it being super-fantastic.

Oooo...off her new album. I like it. This album is a bit more easy-to-swallow for the casual Ani listener. Not sure how the hardcore fans feel about it.

She's toned down her super-Ani voice, liking this more than her older stuff.
Hmmm...doesn't sound like I expected.  Kinda liking it.
something new

this is a nice one :)
