They're almost falling over you
Why don't they call a truce
Whatever they are trying to do
It's of little use
They're drowning you in compliments
Trying to furnish proof
And though they speak with eloquence
There is little truth
You're bright, you're strong
You know your right from wrong
At least to some degree
You're wise, you're tough
You've heard their lies enough
You smile in sympathy
I'm watching your serenity
The way your soul transcends
Their tedious obscenities
Your patience never ends
And as the night begins to fade
You're heading for the door
Followed by a sad parade
You're on your own once more
You're bright, you're strong
You know your right from wrong
At least to some degree
You're wise, you're tough
You've heard their lies enough
You smile in sympathy

Major DM fan here but I would much rather see this song dropped and something better added like Fragile Tension (new lp) or something more obscure like Little 15.
Dr. Girlfriend: Sweetie, isn't that the guy from Depeche Mode?
The Monarch: Oh, no way! Where? Holy crap, he's with a girl?
Dr. Girlfriend: Oh yeah, that guy is totally straight. I saw a whole thing about him on the VH-1.
The Monarch: But he's the guy from Depeche Mode! It's impossible.
Dr. Girlfriend: Straight.
The Monarch: Come on! He's in Depeche Mode!

I never would have thought these guys would last this long .... and sound so good after 30 years!

Wow... 2009, eh? I don't know why that is surprising... any DM tune could easily have been released in the 80's. Are these guys ever going to change their formula?

I wish more bands would revisit their roots and play from their hearts they way that we first knew them.
Send them back to the 80's

I was just about to comment that lately, to me, all their songs sound alike. I remember hearing "It's No Good" blasted out over a sound system at a La Femme Nikita convention in Toronto, and I'd never heard the song before. The sheer power of the song knocked me out (metaphorically) and I bought the CD. I still have good memories of that, but I don't know if I'd buy anything else of theirs, when I have two CDs that seem to sum up their sound for me.

I first saw DM in concert back in 1986 and was fortunate to catch them for the 7th time last summer at the Hollywood Bowl. They sounded better than ever — their live show really took on new life (no pun intended) with the addition of a live drummer, backup singers and a second keyboardist to allow Martin to focus on guitar. I've been a big DM fan from the first time them back in the early '80s but I never thought they'd last this long and develop such a rock-oriented live show. You have to admire them for staying relevant and energetic this long.
I normally like DM—sometimes a lot—but the way Gahan sings this song is seriously annoying.

OK, I hear the influence on Muse that everyone's been mentioning on the Muse boards.
Love it. Good to hear DM still on form.

So what's the vote on the album as a whole? I love this song, hate "Little Soul" from this album. That's all I've heard. Has anybody heard the whole thing?
I like the cool space innovator noise.
First tune from the new DM album that I've liked.

Although this song isn't representative of their body of work, you should have seen them last week at Red Rocks in Denver. So much energy and seeming joy at playing another tour. The place was rockin'! They are so NOT done!
Hmmm. These guys are done. Time to play Disneyland or an Indian casino.

Unless you are implying they are being cooked, I believe what you mean is they are finished. Either way, I disagree.

The tune in the verses sounds just like "With or Without You", by U2. Anyone else hear that?

Great album. Even better than Playing The Angel. These guys have not lost it one bit after 28 years.

Big fan of their old stuff, but with this one I can't get past the growl at the front of EVERY SINGLE PHRASE in the whole song!!!

Solid entry into a monster library.
Kinda sounded like The Killers at first there. Really threw me.

This is one of the better tracks from a good album - it takes some time to warm to.
"Wrong" (track 3) is excellent.

For a long time fan of Depeche Mode this isn't half bad. In fact it's pretty good—a 7-8 or so..

News to me! I always heard what's listed on wikipedia: During KMFDM's first US tour (1989), band members started using the phrase "Kill Motherfucking Depeche Mode" for the acronym to tease journalists who did not understand German (translation "no pity for the majority").
