I've walked these dusty roads for seven days and seven nights
The only guidance that I keep's the monochrome moonlight
Although the stars above me whisper songs to comfort me
I'm still a solitary girl seeking company
Way back, a haystack and the zodiac, three minds in empathy
A rucksack, the train track and a paperback's all I need to comfort me
I pass through pint-sized places that I'll never see again
I'm still a solitary girl seeking out a friend
Slickback, wisecrack, I can smell a rat
Ransacked, setback, down another cul-de-sac
Bullwhack, maniac, sitting on the train track
Crookback, lumberjack, think I better backtrack
I've walked these dusty roads for seven days and seven nights
The only guidance that I keep's the monochrome moonlight
Although the stars above me whisper songs to comfort me
I'm still a solitary girl seeking company

I hear Gruppo Sportivo more than Martha and the Muffins. Clever song.

Thats what I like to call "Let's get it" music

Off topic, but...one night decades ago Rich Little and Carson were discussing their favorite comedians on "The Tonight Show," and they agreed that Paul Lynde could slay 'em reading the phone book. Carson produced a phone book, and Little slayed 'em with a spot on impersonation of Lynde. I don't remember too many times I laughed as hard.
I wonder if you can find that one on YouTube. I recently watched an episode of Paul Lynde's short-lived sit-com on YouTube. It was the standard comic actor with an attractive wife and cute kids formula, but it looks like he had fun with it.

Well, I meant to say "knew of". In other words, I could identify Paul Lynde on TV or in a picture.

I would say this is much for sophisticated than M + M material. Not slamming Martha though.

"Echo Beach"! (Far away inside...)
Kinda yeah...Had to refresh my memory by going to iTunes. The singer of Oi Va Voi definitely has a stronger, slightly deeper voice with more modulation and expression. But that may be down to the difference in song, recording technology, musical style, age, etc.
Good catch, msymmes, and thanks for reminding me of Martha!

I rated this an 8. Must have been a confused day. It's nothing less than a 10 for me.

I gave this whole album a listen the other day. It's quite good!

I figured that was what you meant, but imagine if he worked in your neighborhood hardware store between his appearances on "Bewitched" and "Hollywood Squares". It's obviously not likely that he would have - for several reasons.
But Andy Kauffman worked as a busboy somewhere in Hollywood while he was still doing "Taxi". Paul Lynde wouldn't want to do such messy work if he had to (not without being all aggravated and whiny).

The reviews said this album was different than their earlier work, with a different line-up. It's the only one I have, and it is well worth listening to all the way through. Nice variety of songs, but all listenable.
Listening to the whole album nearly every day. Great!

Good song. Good band. But starting to get a bit overplayed. I'm much rather hear "Worry Lines" on heavy rotation.
Love Oi Va Voi!!!

OK, now play Beirut, Elephant Gun. Thanks.
So many times, I hear something, think, "Oo, that's kind of funky. Who is it?" and it's Oi Va Voi. I really should look into this.
I like these guys... Good variety, good choices and well done delivery... Haven't heard a bad one yet.
Thanks- I tell everyone to listen just for this type of experience...

One of the strongest albums introduced into the RP rotation in 2009, imho.

This reminds me a bit of Neko Case's sound, and I don't know that I've ever noticed that with Oi Va Voi's music before.

Just too much of the "carnie" feel to it for me.
I'm having to much fun with this great music............. make it stop, I have to work!
Not to be argumentative, but I like it.

Makes me think of clown shoes and monkeys with cymbals. (Shudder)
Again with the Gypsy/Circus music,,,,,,geeeeze.
Not sure if it's a slam or a nod, but something about this song reminds me of...
The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
Its a chord change only... but every time it played I switched songs in my head. The amazing thing is that the tune from TUSoUD actually stuck in my head in any way, shape, or form.

If you go to their website you can download a free song from the album! It's an instrumental, called 'Magic Carpet', and it's good. Don't cha just love free stuff!

Yeehaa! Me gusta tres bonbon! If that is "circus music", then maybe I should go to the circus again. I want MORE.
another really ugly album cover
I'm starting to think I need to get some Oi Va Voi. Has anyone purchased any of their albums and have an opinion?
is this fresh off the gypsy caravan?
How about a compromise on the Circus music... maybe put it VERY low in the rotation..
Pipe down you clowns, and pass the peanuts.
mmm! More of this circus music, Bill!
ugh! Enough with this circus music, Bill!
Very well stated!
