And in your life, there comes a darkness
This spacecraft blocking out the sky
And there's nowhere to hide
You run to the back and you cover your ears
But it's the loudest sound you've ever heard
Now we're trapped, we're dark cloud people
We are helpless to resist
In your darkest hour

But it was just a lie, just a lie
Just a lie, just a lie
Even at this angle
And so we crumble
Still turning heads, you know where it's at
This dread still covers us
You gotta be kidding me
The grass grows over me
Your face in the glass, and it's dark now
It was just a laugh, it was just a laugh
It's whatever you say it is
Split infinite

And in your life, there comes a darkness
And a spacecraft blocking out the sky
And there's nowhere to hide
You run to the back and you cover your ears
It's the loudest sound you've ever heard
In your darkest hour

If you had another one
If you had another name
So dark
We will never, never know
We will never, never know
So dark
So dark
So dark
So dark

It sucks.
Very,  very nice! !!
One can like or dislike something. Hate? How can people be so oppressive?

Hate should be used for only the cruelest of monsters.

Of course, I was once called 'hostile' for saying please once so is there little hope for humanity?

Back to Radiohead, I enjoy what they do but in some cases, a bit like a 'too smoky' scotch. I don't like licking a chimney, but a wee dram to experience the blend cannot kill me. ;-)
Possibly the most original and influential music in a generation.  Not to everyone's taste but superb in my 'umble opinion

You got the Knopfler reference justin.

Here's what I know...it's pretty damn hard to write a comment on any song on RP and get noticed for it, unless you already had the top spot.  Stick that in your pipe and smoke it...

Besides not understanding the point of this comment, I have to also say that this comment holds little truth, if any.
As an aside - when are we going to enjoy some tracks from "The Smile" Bill - several candidates for sure (but not the title song)!

One could argue that they have been the most consistently great band/artist of the last 25 years (not to the haters though)

very nice!
Jason Bateman interview of Thom and Jonny on Smartless podcast worth checking out.

yeah, it's ok if you don't like a band's style or sound, musical taste is subjective.
However, the utter vitriol some people post is just completely unnecessary.
Also, when people don't like a band they always follow up with "this band sucks".

No, they don't.  Don't confuse the capability of the performers with your dislike of their music.

Very well stated!!
Good Tune!!

The sum of the parts is greater than the value of any individual piece...I dare say that Radiohead is a perfect example of creating a soundscape.  Go beyond Thom's vocals and just try to take in the totality...it really is quite good...
This sounds like amnesiac era radiohead... perfect to listen to while lying on the floor with your eyes closed.

the APEX of that show. all downhill since then.
This group is soooo good because the arrangements are soooo good. The writing & production are great & diverse as well. Very appealing to most (like me) but not all.

No. The attitude and voice of Thom Yorke is despicable. Radiohead, musically, is interesting. But that guy just irritates every nerve of me. The only good thing he did was Creep - an autobiographical confession.

He has severe social anxiety. Obviously, if you don't like him I don't expect you to have seen the documentary about them ("Meeting people is easy", how ironic), but... Watching the first part of this doc, I thought like you: this guy systematically leaves his bandmates to do the job for him, he disappears (almost completely... :p) every time you need him... But the more you watch, the more you realize that he does that because he's absolutely frightened to talk to... well, almost anybody.
Yorke was probably meant to stay in his cave and record beautiful music, not to go on world tours and interact daily with dozens of people asking questions and watching every single move he does.

So that's for this attitude. A little empathy can't hurt! About his voice, there is nothing I can do :D

The Season 3 ending tho...

SOLID 8 in my book
I like the music that this group does, but i cant understand what he is singing, sounds like my kids being too lazy to fully articulate the words. if i read the lyrics slong with his singing i can understand what he is trying to sing but with out the written prompts i don't get the words.
I think the fact that Radiohead always polarise opinion here is evidence that they are actually very good.  Case closed.
I'm pretty sure the last line of verse two is "split infinitive." Because Thom.

This song gets better with every day .

Both wrong. Not all X are Y, otherwise we would only need X.
Thom Yorke is a genius. The 'Burn the Witch' track from this album is worth a spin.
One of a couple of haunting tunes from "A Moon Shaped Pearl" , Yorke gets
it right on this one

I want to give your post a '10' rating, based solely on the Father Ted  reference.
Great quartet of songs here beginning with X Ambassadors' "Renegade" through this one.
Could hear it many times a day. Thanks Bill

I'm also put in mind of the late Lemmy from Motorhead, who said that Thom Yorke needed to 'cheer the feck up' (or  words to that effect).

Radiohead's grown on me like fungus through exposure on RP and some numbers are halfway tolerable, and for sure the band itself is extremely good, but Yorke is one miserable metalfitter, right enough. I can't imagine listening to him for enjoyment. Maybe for catharsis.

Cool.  I heard Jose Gonzalez on RP 10 years ago and also became an instant fan.  It's nice to hear a grateful remark.
Damn! I keep thinking I don't like these guys but I end up liking them. Damn!
struck me as being very reminiscent of Massive Attack's Teardrop. I googled it and it seems that many people also think so...Not drawing any conclusions, just an observation.

Haven't heard this before. First few bars (before becoming very obviously Radiohead) this sounded sooo much like Elbow... Which is a very good thing.

In my limited experience, that's life for most of us! (Replace "album" with your personal artifact of endeavor; makes me appreciate all the more the ones who create well into their "prime.")

This is actually pretty good (7-8, maybe even 9 after a few listens) but in general RP plays way too much Radiohead.

As already foresaw a long time ago, this disc is a sort of "musical reminiscences", of a group that in the past they knew lead to practice, and say with a lot of high-efficiency, a set of great songs format, but currently lost this ability, and for all we know "there do not go" anymore. So why the new disc of 2016?  Maybe just makes sense the intention to "billing target" to keep the band's name in current market context, and maybe pass when inserted in the context of continuous issue remains of radio stations, as happens about a lot of different music. Separately ear and so dedicated, I'm sure that this is no longer the case, "jamais".
Nevertheless, "Decks Dark" is as for me probably the best musical track of the whole album, where the group conveys the idea of wanting to retrieve some aesthetic model and sound of his period more glorious and inspired from the past.

Nevertheless, "Decks Dark" and "Present Tense" are as for me probably the best musical tracks of the whole album, where the group conveys the idea of wanting to retrieve some aesthetic model and sound of his period more glorious and inspired from the past.

"Present Tense" included in 2016 album "A Moon Shaped Pool" dates to 2008, and Tom Yorke first performed it in a solo set at the UK Latitude Festival in 2009.

This dance
This dance
Is like a weapon
Is like a weapon
Of self defense
Of self defense
Against the present
Against the present
Present tense

No I won't get heavy
No don't get heavy
Keep it light and
Keep it moving
I am doing
No harm
As my world
Comes crashing down
I'm dancing
Freaking out
Deaf, dumb, and blind

In you I'm lost
In you I'm lost

I won't turn around
Or the penny drops
I won't stop now
I won't slack off
Or all this love
Will be in vain
To stop from falling
Down a mine
It's no one's business
But mine
Where all this love
Has been in vain

In you I'm lost
In you I'm lost
In you I'm lost
In you I'm lost
