Dancing very close
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotised
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night
in Rapture
Back to back
Sacrailiac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack
Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping
in Rapture
Thank goodness this version doesn't include that silly rap about the man from Mars eating cars. This resurrects a good song.
Glad it's not just me that hates that 'rap'

Thank goodness no one cares what you think. The original song was perfect as the artist intended it to be.
Good grief - you people try to suck the love out of everything - miserable fucking bastards. This is a really great version. The bass line alone is priceless. Stop posting hate or anger about art, itβs wasted energy you idjits.
I have to admit this is very interesting version of this fine song, LOVE IT

somebody needs a hug
That bass.
ace of bass
This version? So-so. Ms Harry's photo has been fabulously remixed, however.

That's exactly what made this a great song; well the original anyway. Debbie Harry saw rap as a new and emerging genre, she was WAY ahead of her time on that subject, and had a LOT to do with rap becoming mainstream. You don't have to like rap to appreciate what she did for it.
probably aged well
Hmmm, is she your crush as a 77 year old woman?
probably aged well
Ahhhh, Deborah Harry. My crush as a 13 year old boy.

Funny you should mention Joni Mitchell. After hearing this awesome remix, I looked up Rhythm Scholar, and their catalog of remixes of popular songs is amazing, and goes from The Beatles, to Coldplay, to Snoop and Public Enemy. Among the remixes is Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now". You can listen to it all free on Soundcloud or download the remixes directly from his website:

Not only does this DJ remix the songs using the original elements, but for several songs he hired studio musicians to come add new instrumental tracks. Thanks RP for another amazing music discovery!
This one is brilliant
regulate
Trust me. You'd rather be Debbie Harry.
I would rather be Nina Hagen!
This is really, really good. I mean really good.
So is Debbie, pant, pant!
I just wanted to be her... or Annie Lenox.
Trust me. You'd rather be Debbie Harry.
Great segue from Army of Me!
Bill just did it again! Long Live RP!!!
Ahhhh, Deborah Harry. My crush as a 13 year old boy.
......My crush as a 33 y.o. boy.
Ahhhh, Deborah Harry. My crush as a 13 year old boy.
Yep! mine too lol
Cool dance vibe mixed with a recognizable song. I bet it's fun to dance to with your sweetie.
So how do you categorize/pigeonhole this song?
A little funk, a little disco, a little electronica?
Has me wondering Steven Wilson was listening to this and similar material.
You dont need to pigeonhole music its just music unless you ate US American.π
Ahhhh, Deborah Harry. My crush as a 13 year old boy.
My crush as an 18 yo teenager...
thank God they pulled Debbie Harry's pathetic attempt to rap from this mix.
I hope to God you put your pathetic unit back in your mouth.
Agreed, makes me want to listen to the original now
Can we finally say it. The much lionized "dj/producer/mixologist" is essentially a talentless douchebag, too long overcompensated at the expense of the musician

Are you saying she looks like she's 74? Shocker!
What's next...Pat Benatar's "Zombie Apocalypse" version of Hit Me With Your Best Shot?
Joni Mitchell's "Nuclear Armageddon" version of Free Man in Paris?
Jesus.

no one wants to see the Donald's face pasted on the Mona Lisa. Why support these corruptions of good music?
Where's the man from Mars?
Now in Texas building rockets to get home.
Wait, those are bones?
I would have happily given her an extra one back in the day.
It's sacroiliac, not sacrailiac.
Weller "Walk on Gilded Splinters" to this...

Rest In Peace, Dr. John. Safe journey...

How about William Shatner covering "Mr. Tambourine Man," Insane Clown Posse covering "Let's Go All the Way," or Megadeth covering "Anarchy In the U.K."?

Being a remix it has to have something in parenthesis beside the name. Usually that something is: something mix. Why not Doomsday Deathmix, what with the tolling bells and apocalyptic back beats.
Pandemic Panic also a very good band name.
(Right up there with "Airborn Toxic Event")
You might want to wait a couple of years though...

LOL, some good irony there dude.
Wait, those are bones?
Ah, no. Those are boobies. I meant the great bones of DH's facial structure.
Wait, those are bones?
DH has great bones.
a very pointed observation
Bwahahaha- I see what you did there!

You'd probably have to ask the Rhythm Scholar remix people why they chose such a name; they seem to be pretty lighthearted with their remix names. Maybe those tunes you mentioned are coming soon!
Hey, it was cold in there!
I was 23, but equally smitten.

I just wanted to be her... or Annie Lenox.

Autoamerican was the first album (cassette) I purchased as a kid. Had Parallel Lines on 8 track. Eventually all of them on vinyl. Sigh. Blondie was just the best...

And now I can never unsee that video. I need an episode of Sesame Street or something, stat. Holy crap.
yep.
As far as I remember (and granted it was 1980, so my memory may be a little sketchy), Blondie's "Autoamerican" album was released a few weeks before The Clash's "Sandinista". I believe that the single "Rapture" was also released before the single "The Magnificent Seven".
Autoamerican was released in November of 1980, Sandinista! in December 1980. "Rapture" was released as a single in Jan of 81. I don't think "the Magnificent Seven" and/or "Magnificent Dance" was released until the spring of 81
Also, The Clash's "Magnificent Seven" pre-dates this song (though it wasn't a hit on the pop charts as "Rapture" was).
