It's alright
There comes a time
Got no patience to search
For peace of mind
Layin' low
Want to take it slow
No more hiding or
Disguising truths I've sold

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

It's okay
Had a bad day
Hands are bruised from
Breaking rocks all day
Drained and blue
I bleed for you
You think it's funny, well
You're drowning in it too

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

Yeah, it's fine
We'll walk down the line
Leave our rain, a cold
Trade for warm sunshine
You my friend
I will defend
And if we change, well I
Love you anyway

Everyday it's something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin' by myself
No excuses, then I know

Never got to see Layne perform unfortunately, but I did see the new formation live at Rock Werchter. They rocked! They played all the old stuff and I was back in 90s heaven. It was a big Seattle reunion that day, with Pearl Jam, Dave from FF (who was performing with Them Crooked Vultures) and you could see they'd had a lot of fun backstage with old friends. During the PJ set everybody went on stage and because the drum kit was already taken by PJ's drummer, Dave Grohl grabbed a tambourine and blew everyone on stage away. It was marvelous. Good memories...

I was at the same show / festival, and agree completely with this sentiment! Rock Werchter rocks!

I'm coming up with Oasis?

Both sorely missed, Layne and Mike.

EXCELLENT!!!
I've heard this band name for years but didn't know their stuff. This was good enough for me to check to see "who is this"? One of those "old guy discovers 'new' music" moments. haha

too cool drum riff at beginning...now iconic in "drum openers" canon
(Always dug the harmonies with these guys. Like some wicked barbershop quartet or something) Some of the best harmonies in rock music history RIP Layne you are missed

Ah thank you. Dark light at the end of a tunnel - need this.
Man, I miss this band. I saw the madeover version, and they're just not the same.

Ditto -- in a minor key.
Looks like this is a recent addition to RP's playlist.
Alice was a bright spot in music for me in the 90's.  Something brand new, not done before.  It hit the spot at first listen.
I've listened to this song many many times and loved the music (simple chords but perfect slow rock rhythm), and then I listened to the lyrics.  Raw and real.  I admit I ignored a band called Alice in Chains for the silly name.  Some kind of prejudice I guess.  This song transcends anything silly, non-musical, or boring.
I enjoy the tight vocal harmonies in this song.
