I was trying to decide if it sounded like either the Future Islands guy or an old lady soul singer way past her prime who doesn't have the pipes anymore but still has the chops to do whatever the F she wants...

Yes, there are some similarities in their singing styles, though Kurt Wagner doesn't do that "crackly voice" thing as frequently as this guy did.

I'm liking this a bit, although I can't shake the "Tom Waits + a few octaves" - oh well, I'll rate at 6 and see when BillG plays again in the mix.  Long Live RP!!
