I had never heard of these guys until 3 weeks ago when I was given free tix to see them from a box.

Lot of fun but it was like suddenly finding yourself in 1974. A lot of similarities to Genesis, Jethro Tull and Queen back in the days when epic/operatic rock was popular. A lot of guys with long hair and guitars running back and forth across the stage.

And the most lasers and flame throwers I've ever seen at a show.

I had the a similar experience a few weeks ago.  Hokey and overblown, but enough of a spectacle to impress even the most jaded.

Oh my dear God! This is the funniest (and most accurate) comment one could make for this - um - production.

Mannheim Steamroller with balls?

This is the first Christmas song I've heard on RP.  Nice choice for this set!

Ugh. TSO is a bit overrated IMO. Xmas music is probably the easiest music to arrange because its been done 2837548173135 times. So adding your little orchestra and unimpressive 80s guitar screeches isnt exactly a monumental, musical achievement. Which would be fine with me if, in concert, they didnt act like they were the greatest thing since Yanni. The drummer - in particular - did the drumstick twirl over his head thinking he was Tommy Lee literally every time that hand wasnt playing. Talk about pretentious. /rant
This is the kind of music that inspires Michael Flatley.
Well, it started off on the right foot......
It's still a Christmas song.
WOW, that was some production...quite powerful.

I love the Transexual Sabian Orchestra!
Thankfully, this is only played about once a year on RP. And, that's about two times too many.
A real treat, may be considered commercial, but you gotta love that wailing guitar.

Hey Bill, is your house flashing Christmas lights in sync with this tune?
Yeesh.
Now I want to play this on Rock Band or Guitar Hero. :-)
I love the Transexual Sabian Orchestra!
TSO is fun at Christmas. But I do expect Meatloaf to jump out and yell "Like an elf out of HEll" have agood holiday everyone! M
WOW!!
Would you BELIEVE I was out of the office...?!? Probably the only one I would make today , too! 9 anyway...thanks for playing it...
Not gimmick, just a new interpretation. Sure, it's not Mannheim! And? Quite likeable.

Hey you got any John Denver and the Muppets?
Took the words out of my mouth. ;) But I am happy we are getting some Christmas music. The only time I have turned off RP this week is to turn on the radio to listen to Christmas music. Thanks Bill. :) Christmas music with whining guitars.

Coolness! Mannheim Steamroller meets Joe Satriani! Sure gets me into that holiday spirit!! :p
Nice description. One of my FAVORITE holiday tunes, despite the posts decrying this as a Mannheim clone.
Hey you got any John Denver and the Muppets?
Doesn't Mannheim Steamroller already fill this much-needed void?
Manheim Steamroller on steroids. This is not a favorite.
Also from "Dead Winter Dead", the Savatage album regarding Sarajevo, and one that never leaves my mp3 player rotation at home. -- EDIT: Perhaps I should say that in the setting of the album, this song works perfectly. There is a 'combat' between the orchestra and the band roiling throughout many of the orchestral pieces.
This is *almost* as bad as the Jessica Simpson/Ozzy Ozbourne duo. RALPH!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the kind of song that makes me long for Xmas to be over. Pure gimmick (and a lame heavy metal gimmick at that).
umm....is it just me or, is this tune a mishmash of noise...some of it\'s interesting, and well, some of it\'s not.
Coolness! Mannheim Steamroller meets Joe Satriani! Sure gets me into that holiday spirit!! :p
Posted Fri Dec 07 10:13:40 | From Pearhead-Tega Cay, SC Trans-Siberian Orchestra Bill....you really should give some of these a listen. from their 1996 effort I suggest Old City Bar and First Snow and Christmas in Sarajevo (instrumental). The clips don't really do them much justice but maybe it's enough to wet some appetites. And please don't assume this is just another Steamroller clone......these guys have an edge and a message.
I'll have to hand it to you Bill. Your turnaround time on this one takes the cake. A little more than 2 hrs. later and you've got it in rotation. Play some other cuts as well....tis the season! Thanks.
keep this one in your rotation the rest of this month!
wow...i almost fell outta my chair when i heard this playing. i love it...variety is good...
