I guess I can understand why people like his tunes, but for me it sounds pasteurized and bland and most of it it goes absolutely nowhere... IMHO his songs are best suited for movie fades & TV commercials...

If I'm not mistaken, this is from the "Hotel" period when Moby was suffering terrible, multi-day insomnia; naturally, his music reflected his life, views, and in this case, that meant he holed up in a NYC hotel room for about a month and started composing.  That largely consisted of Moby composing around/about what he saw from his room's window — he didn't leave the room for weeks.  Needless to say, his material from that campaign has a particular "atmospheric" quality to it, in a Moby way it reminds of some of Eno's work.

There's a lot this song conjures up for me, mostly stuff it's derivative of, but a 'whispering wind' is not one of them. All that electronics hardly suggests anything as plain-air as a wind through the trees. The vocal is early-80s second generation 8-bit synth and the backing rhythm is every ambient/downtempo/techno backing rhythm ever used. Maybe I just don't like the name "Moby". What is that?

Wasn't there a cowboy song with the same or similar title? A quick google does not reveal it, but I know I've heard it. Maybe a tune in one of those Gene Autry westerns of the 1940s.

It's obvious that it doesn't work for everybody (sometimes on the contrary) but I know it's mend to have that effect (not only in supermarkets of course) As a matter of fact, I mostly do notice music played in public places too, but when I asked an employee, at the supermarket I visit most, why they kept running the same tape over and over and over again, she said she hardly did notice it was on and neither did most of the customers, but....they start missing it when it isn't!

I dont know what supermarkets you shop in, but mine dont exactly play stuff that make me want to spend more! Soft rock 70s am hits dont make me say "i need more frozen peas!"

This is a great tune, and it\'s one of many great mixes that you will find on the series of \"Cafe Del Mar\" albums, I think this is on volume 7. If you like this.. you really need to check out that series.
