I walk through walls, I float down the Liffey
I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here
In a little while I'll be gone
The moment's already passed, yeah, it's gone
And I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here
Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I'm not here, this isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here
The only bad one I''ve heard from them.
Factoid: Read that the line "I'm not here..." was advice Thom received from Michael Stipe on the pressure and overwhelm of stardom/touring. To avoid getting swallowed up by it.
And when asked about the track he is most proud of he answered this song.
I had to learn to listen to this song because it moves me emotionally too much.
I've been a fan of Radiohead since the days of the Bends. What a ride it was to be on board during the journey between that and this, in particular.
They towered above everything else. They remain astonishingly, unfairly good.
There is so much here. I honestly feel bad for the people who insist its just an awful dirge or that Thom can't sing. Sometimes his voice is the most beautiful thing in the world. Sometimes it speaks to the frailty of the human condition. Sometimes it's a frantic existential panic. There's always a vulnerability there. He is utterly genuine.
This band are a universe unto themselves. They are worth your time. They're probably the most important and rewarding rock band of the last quarter century. Let them in, for goodness' sake.
As I read somewhere else, his voice is a distinct instrument

Delicate yet Dissonant
Peaceful but Jarring
Epic and Austere
Timely to Timeless
Affirming while Disturbing......this is Art....
Ok. You and your friends can please stop playing this one?
Ouch, that dissonance hurts.
I suspect that’s the desired effect 🤔 ?!
